lol dont do thisDespite being 6-20, we're only 5.5 games back of the 8th seed![]()
Ain’t he a combo guard too? I thought we was gunning for a floor general.Listen, if your going to be in this thread I’m gonna need you to focus... ANTHONY EDWARDS is who we are drafting.

But but randle trash yet Portis/dsj/Gibson all playing like trash. Mitch rob and randle should be getting 30+ min nightlyThis is what Randle looks like with competent coaching![]()
Randle kept the Knicks in it early, great first half and a solid second half. He really carried the offense early with Ariza shutting down Mook and everyone else struggling. Randle also had some nice defensive moments effort wise, the Hield Iso especially. He still made mistakes but far fewer and he moved the ball more willingly than damn near any time we've seen him. He earned his due in this one.
I love that Mook was getting stifled as a scorer but picked up 5 assists.
Barrett kinda got abused but to be fair the other guards were only nominally better against Hield (they were much better on Bogdan and Joseph though). RJ came up with an offensive board that led to the first go ahead points in the fourth quarter though and even with struggle numbers, he did nice things in the intangibles section.
Frank was bad again. He tried to get going early which I liked seeing, but he needs to work inside out rather than outside in. He's gotta pick it up.
The Taj block on Hield was a perfect example of ICE'ing the ball handler. Elfrid cheats the screen and forced Hield to the sideline side, Taj was close enough to step in and block the jumper. It's pretty damned common but something I was excited to see the Knicks deploy once Miller came in.
Payton was great. His recognition against the defense was top notch, so he picked his spots to damn near perfection. His chemistry with Taj defending the pick and roll was pure veteran bliss. If Frank and Mitch can emulate that, we'll have a shut down tandem no matter which PG/C combo we're running out.
Dot was absolutely great. The three ball is starting to fall more and he's just looking more aggressive lately on both ends. He did get caught up on screens chasing Bogdanovic around a bit.
Knox went 1/5 and I still loved his effort. The motor was the difference. When he's locked in and playing at full speed, good things happen even on the misses. More importantly, he's stepping up his defensive effort by a long shot. Put it this way 0.2 BPG in October and November, he's at 1 BPG so far in December.
Portis was low key really good. He actually had moments on defense where I caught him making positive impact decisions that helped other guys. We're talking positioning and rotations that you could easily miss. He was also a mismatch for most of the Kings bench bigs. One downside, he struggled heavy on Bagley early on because he kept giving up that little turn around floater/baby hook.
Mitch played 25 minutes and only had 2 fouls. He was a problem all damned night too. 14 and 9 coulda been 20 and 12 imo, he coulda been out there more. But I got what Miller was doing. He went with the vets late and they ran were consistent and controlled. I want Mitch to get opportunities to be that dude though and he already has in previous games, so I'm confident that'll happen.
Here's a random bit of good news:
Now I'm nursing a bit of a hangover, so I'm goin to eat something and drink some coffee. First 2 game winning streak of the season, tough one next but with the Hawks afterward maybe we can actually have a 3-1 stretch. Blame who you want, credit who you want, these recent games have been infinitely more watchable from an effort and focus standpoint...As someone who tries to recap this ish, I'm grateful AF for that much.
Glad you’re a knicks fan, these recaps are greatWere not 1 player away. We gotta take the best player available. We need some stars.Ain’t he a combo guard too? I thought we was gunning for a floor general.
I kinda agree with this...
