This sort of makes sense they’ve wanted Frank for a while plus Sekou plays for them and they share a manager. If both of them played in Detroit he could have influence on the franchise. With that said Frank has turned a corner and we really don’t need Drummond.
Yea, they’ve definitely been after him. I swear I saw a rumor about them being interested in DSJ too.

nah bro players peak isn’t 19 but usually 25-28. This is after they spend years with professional trainers.
Of course. But they don’t go from 32” verticals to 40” verticals tho. RJ is not explosive. We see it constantly when he tries to dunk on bigs.

did you watch full games of him when he was at duke (i'm not talking one or two games)?
if you watched a bunch of full duke games and think this then maybe I missed something
I’m a Duke fan bro. I watched almost every game. I’m only arguing the difference between good and elite. He could be a top 15 passer in the league and still not be elite cause there’s another level. RJ doesn’t make the same passes the elite guys make. And I’m not sure that’s something guys pick up later in their careers. That ELITE level passing.

R.J. has around a 36 inch vertical I’d say.

I think at his peak he’ll average 22/6/5 with 1.5 steals on 47/35/67 type splits. All-Star to borderline All-Star player.

I think were all looking at athleticism a little too much with RJ. I compared him to Paul Pierce and Melo when we drafted him. Neither of them were elite athletes but Pierce was a very effective player until he was 36 or 37. Melo is still doing things

Sometimes the B+ athletes have longer careers then the A athletes. Paul Pierces prime was longer then both TMacs and Vinces. RJ will be fine, he may never be a superstar but he could easily be an all star for the majority of his career. He just needs experience and he needs more stability around him

Young Carmelo Anthony is a better athlete. He had a lightning first step, quick second jump, and used to dunk a lot his first few years in the league. Kinda like Jabari Parker.

R.J. has a sturdier physique though. He should be a pretty ripped and physical 6’7 230 lb., like a Jimmy Butler like frame with a better wingspan.

True i sometimes forget that but your right. Carmelo overall was a step up athletically from Pierce. A guy his size with that deceptively quick first step :wow:

Which I’m perfectly fine with. Idk why nikkas are killing me for this.

Exactly why i was cool with the pick. But Melo was a good athlete in his prime. He had a quick first step, was explosive at the rim and had a great second jump ability. And Paul was never a superstar. He was always a class below the Kobe’s and T Macs.

1) which means he’s not get much more athletic than this. Just doesn’t happen.
2) i may be wrong here but elite passing and vision is something you just have. All the elite passers in the league now came into the league that way. (LeBron, CP, Trae Young, Luka etc).
I’m having a hard time thinking of anyone who improved from a good to an elite passer.
I know RJ is young. And he’s absolutely going to improve. He’s gonna be a multiple all star in my opinion.

I definitely think elite passing and vision are attributes you're born with. But I also think that a good passer can take a step (not to elite but to great) without necessarily improving their vision or passing at all. Just by improving certain other aspects of their game which open up more options. I think RJ improving as a shooter and a ball handler would immediately get more out of his passing ability. I'm confident those two attributes will grow with time and I'm curious to see how much stronger he can get as well.

Basically, if he has a jump shot that commands close outs. And he has the handle to get to the rim without being stripped or struggling with his grip. Compound that with his strength and he'll be able to finish consistently even when wings are on his hips. That means the weakside double is necessary and he has the vision to make teams suffer for collapsing on him. He still won't be elite but the reads and passes won't be particularly difficult to complete.

I'm optimistic that he'll see some allstar appearances as long as the jumper comes along tbh.

LaMelo is a very high risk high reward pick but if he hits as a pick then he would be the PG the Knicks need
His shot is shyt I know but out of all the PGs in the draft, he has the highest upside IMO
He is built for NY
I can fukk with a LaMelo, RJ, and Mitch starting lineup with two sharpshooters (Morris and ?) at the 3 and 4 and Frank as the Knicks' defensive super sub off the bench
Or if Frank improves to 37+% he can start too and RJ can move to the 3

What about Anthony Edwards? If they get the #1 pick I would run the offense with RJ, Frank.

I could see the Knicks signing Cousins to a 1 year deal, or Isaiah Thomas. :mjlol:

Those 4 guys you named should be the future of this team. Curious to see what they do with Wooten.
