I like Deni and Obi both mainly because I think they're low floor, good fit players. Obi's offensive upside and athleticism pairs with Mitch's defensive upside and athleticism for what could potentially be a monster of a front court to guard. Deni's all around game, IQ and high level passing make him a sure thing to be valuable and would pair really well with RJ's ability to create and attack for a great combo on the wings that has a ton of size. You combine those guys with the fact that I think trading up into the late teens or low twenties is realistic and that Lewis/Maledon are both dropping to that range in mock drafts...You could tempt me to pass on Haliburton if one of Deni or Obi is available while Ball/Killian aren't.

But that's also the one thing about this draft...I see a lot of players that intrigue me and who I'd be happy to land. We have a lot of flexibility, to go BPA or target the highest upside fit.

Below is a piece on Wood that gave me a bit of pause and that's doubly because I saw it catch some co-signs from heads that I typically give weight to their opinions. I don't think a Randle comparison is fair (advanced stats make that much clear) but in terms of his floor stretching ability being a question mark and his fit with Mitch not being perfect, I understand the wariness.

Wood You Do It?

I'm not saying I'd hate taking that shot though. Just that I'd rather take the shot on Obi being that kind of 4 while on a rookie pay scale and preserving the cap flexibility for more of a sure thing.

These are all good points. Especially about attempting to get Wood. I do still like the fit but yeah it’s not nearly a sure thing. I also don’t think we have to move Randle. A three big rotation of Mitch, Randle, and Wood isn’t horrible and Randle’s cap space could be flipped over to 2021.

Obi is a conundrum to me. His game looks like Josh Smith but he has a legit 3 and doesn’t play defense. So he really doesn’t play like josh Smith. I don’t know how to works in the NBA.

I think the knicks need to get a PG. We haven’t taken a legit PG in a draft in over 20 years. We’ve also sucked for 20 years. This is the best PG draft since 2009. If anything grab two PG’s or get a PG with your high pick and then see who slides and if it is worth trading up to get someone.

Nothing matters at this point. The game won’t feel the same for a long time. All the trade rumors for Chris Paul needs to be thrown out. The real season will begin when he’s ready to retire.

:hubie: Short shifty nikka with 30 foot range and a cold floater and beasty court vision

Damn near 30/10 as a freshman and single handily carrying an offense sometimes you can’t think about it too hard

Y’all lost :hubie:
There's nothing about what you said that screams "sure thing"

The Knicks need one of Edwards, LaMelo, or Wiseman
However, Wiseman becomes less of a need due to Mitch
If the Knicks get Edwards or LaMelo, Mitch wouldn't need to be more than a better defensive Capela like player who can also shoot 3s
A Frank/Edwards/RJ/Knox/Mitch lineup fits well imo
Great defensive collective in Frank, Edwards, RJ, and Mitch with Knox's shotblocking capabilities
RJ and Edwards doing the majority of the scoring with Frank, Knox, and Mitch as complimentary scoring pieces who will thrive off the defensive attention given to RJ and Edwards

Knicks end up with the 9th pick :skip:
