Fam, R.J. Barrett hasn’t been that good.

If you want to list him as a forward he hasn't been better than P.J., Rui, Clarke, Paschall who are eligible for that second team.

If you want to list him as a guard he's got to compete with Herro, Davis, Thybulle, White, Porter. Herro has been a bucket and one of the best shooters on a playoff bound Miami team he has a more advanced offensive arsenal than Barrett. Thybulle only averages 5 points but his defense is monstrous and he's also on a playoff bound team

R.J.'s only argument is his raw point per game numbers.
So we’re punishing the number 3 pick in the draft for being on a bad team?

I want to see how good RJ can become instead of judging him off an incomplete rookie season playing with the likes of Julius Scrambles and hatin ass Payton in an offense w/ no spacing:yeshrug:
He was stuck in the corner for the majority of the season

if he doesn't become anything great or turns into a star, we need give him time to see what happens

Son should have produced more a number 3 pick you’d want him to be able to distinguish himself among teammates and take the reigns immediately :manny:

R.J. been hyped for years the Maple Mamba our team desperately needed a franchise player like Zion or Ja he’s not that he has work to do.

If only he shot better than 33% on C&S’s (mostly unguarded and from the corners) and worked on going right more in the summer and added some finesse to finish around the basket (45% on layups) instead of barreling so much like a shorter Randle.

Anyway yeah that’s the downside of being on a bad team :manny:

Being left off is more fuel for RJ to get better and be more assertive. He should demand the ball more in his second year because he got more to lose than anyone else on the team.

he did demand the ball
his teammates didn't pass him the ball when he had the hot hand, especially Scrambles, Morris, and Payton
RJ could have had multiple 30+ point games

That’s what I was trying to get across. Hopefully it’s known at the beginning of the season that he’s #1 and he shows it off the floor and in practice. He needs to be like Jordan and punch some of these guys in the face if they don’t do as he says.

I want to hear some inside stories of him knocking guys out next season, especially if Randle and Payton are still on the team.

All that goes with production though. He can’t keep shooting bricks and missing free throws.

RJ wasn't perfect and he needs to improve his game no doubt
But being stuck in the corner and being denied the ball after scoring 14 in a quarter or 16 in a half doesn't help anyone
how can he improve if he's stuck in the corner watching Scrambles spin move into a triple team?
