Wasn’t the bulls team a bunch of young guys when he got them
Yea that’s why i said it’s unfounded imo. Jimmy, Rose, Noah, Deng and evening Zach Levine are all young players who got better under Thibs.
1 case for it would be Tyus Jones who a lot of wolves fans felt the team played better when he was out there but Thibs preferred Teague

From the draft thread. I wouldn't be mad at the Knicks picking Toppin, I think he's the best forward in the draft and he'll be a bucket from day 1. Draft him then go after VanVleet in free agency. Isaiah Stewart would be a good look at 27 too, especially if his shot develops.

6. New York Knicks | No. 1 pick odds: 9%
i

Obi Toppin
Dayton
F
Age:
22.4

Toppin's draft range: Nos. 3-10

The best offensive player in college basketball, Toppin brings high-flying dunks and deep pick-and-pop 3s that would infuse a level of excitement to Madison Square Garden. On a franchise that has never shown any interest in a lengthy rebuilding process, there will likely be a comfort level with a 22-year-old who was named national player of the year. The point person in Toppin's recruitment to his agency was now-Knicks president Leon Rose, who should be intimately familiar with him on and off the court.

I've said it before. I have four names that I put above the rest: Ball, Edwards, Toppin and Deni (in that order with Wiseman left off because I really think Mitch should be our long term focus at C).

If we can pick one of those four guys, I'm running to the podium happy. After those guys, my favorite option for the Knicks is down at 20 on this mock draft...if we could package our late first and early second to move up into the 18-22 range, I'd be ecstatic. Any combination of Obi with Lewis, Cole, Maxey or Maledon would have me extra hype. If we couldn't move up, I might take Cassius Winston with our second rounder.

I feel like the Knicks will win the lottery just because this is the year I would probably want it the least.

:mjlol: I feel you on that. I'm not as certain on Ball as most cats seem to be. I'd almost prefer moving up to three so that we can just pick whoever's left of Ball, Edwards Toppin (not like there's gonna be work outs to help the decision anyway). That or we move up to 1; the Bulls drop out of Okoro range; and we pull off a pick swap that includes Lavine somehow. Fantasy scenario for sure though.
