Why is Lewis so late in mocks so many people rave about him whats his weaknesses
Na, stay at 8 and pick whatever fits the squad organically. Kira is a shot in the dark but explore other prospects because there's better picks.Move back in the draft and pick up Kira![]()
I’m really uncertain on GS as a whole. I do think we could see first round picks sold or packaged with bad contracts where possible though. So I think this is a draft to look at moving around but I’m not sure I’d push extra assets out the door at any point; I’d continue the asset acquisition (for those who are sick of rebuilding, these assets are trade chips down the line too).
Cap uncertainty is interesting. I wonder if teams will be cheaper than expected and some FA’s might dangle loose for unexpected prices. It’s only a thought and not something I’d count on but I think it’s possible.
Was just going to say, i don’t trust these mocks one bit this year. Variations from mock to mock are way to wild.Every mock I’ve checked so far has Kira at 20 to the Heat. It’s my worst nightmare but also...We probably could find a team 10-20 that’d part with their pick for some other type of compensation (cap relief mainly). If we could use 8 on a wing (Nesmith, Vassell or Okoro if he slips) and STILL get Kira, I will be absolutely ecstatic. Sign a stretch 4 and some vets that compliment our youth (instead of competing with them and taking their time away)... and then just see what happens.
that’s a recipe to head into the better free agency of 2021 with more clarity about our youth, more assets and still the cap space to make a run at a player or two.
Edit: but quick disclaimer...no way is Kira 20th on big boards. Super young but has two years of college experience and has virtually every tool you want in a modern nba PG (speedy, fast reads, good passer and not afraid to shoot off the dribble).
He's skinny, not great shot selection and he wasn't great finishing around the basket (I believe a lot of this is a result of being skinny). Defensively, he'll absolutely be a project and that's another case where strength is the biggest hole.
The thing is, all of that improved from year one to year two. All of the continued to improve as his sophomore year kept going. So I am confident that he'll continue to improve in these areas. I also think that his shot selection will get a bump from having much better passing options and that his finishing will get a bump from having NBA spacing to play in.
The other note is that he shot 36% from three which isn't bad but certainly isn't great and that's on a college three point line. But again, the jumper was improving and his efficiency numbers were effected by that shot selection that he'd been working on. This is a kid who was not afraid to take an off the dribble three pointer when guys ducked under screens (which they had to do often because he's so much faster than most players).
That's the weaknesses, but I also don't think that's all there is to his low mock draft position. He started the season rated borderline first round based on his freshman year. The strides he took made him a sleeper early in the season and as more eyes started to find his improvements...season was cut short.
The African kid from the Bronx, Precious Achiuwa could also be in play as a PF of the future for us.![]()
I like it![]()
A bogdanovic shaking loose from Sacramento would make me feel a lot better about drafting Kira at 8 i know that’s for sure.
Exactly he had bad games, but there is a legit skill set there to improve upon. He’s fast as fukk and exactly what the Knicks need in the half court because his 3pt shot form looks great. I get the idea of maybe trading back, but I don’t like that idea with the Suns right behind us. Kira would be exactly what they need at PG.
Kira, Booker, Mychal, Oubre, Aston. They aren’t letting him fall.
Hell the pistons might get him but I think they go BPA and that could be anyone they might also trade for that Warriors pick.
You guys think this could be a draft where trading up actually won’t be so costly because a team like Golden State would just not want to use that much salary? They’re not only trading number 2 anymore, they’re trading number 2 and potentially shedding 5 million in salary.
I like Bogdanovic but I think Sactown would rather give up assets to move Hield's contract than let that dude walk. That kid's legit.
I've basically resigned myself to the Pistons taking Killian Hayes, another young PG that I really like. I could see LaMelo, Hayes and Haliburton all gone before 8. I forgot about the Suns btw, sounds like we may have to stand pat to grab Kira.
Picture it with me my Knicks fam...one of the fastest PG's in the league running high pick and rolls with Mitch rim running. Shooters at the 2 and 4 spot stretching the defense to the corners. RJ on the weakside wing to cut inside, set a second screen or step out to receive kick outs for resets against a collapsed defense.
For the reasons you mentioned. I also think Kira can play off ball moreLooking at all the options out there I think the Pistons do the trade. Send Kennard out, bring Wiggins and Lamelo back In and the Warriors can still take Halliburton or Okoro.
Talent wise the Pistons potentially win absorbing two guys who could be their offense in Wiggins/Lamelo. They could even put Lamelo next to Rose and it works as a back court for now. Flipside Warriors get two low cost roleplayers (Kennard, and Hal/Okoro) that can come in and help them be competitive now.
Rose
Lamelo
Wiggins
Griffin
Woods
They aren’t playing defense really but fit Casey’s style
