Who cares? How many players have shot in the 65-70% range? It’s a wash at that point.

This is what these rim runners do. What was Capela, Gobert, Jordan, Robert Williams, Jarrett Allen, Hayes % last year bet it wasn’t much lower.

Then you have rim runners like Whiteside, Adams, Trezz, Bamba, Davis, Collins, Bam, Clarke who don’t shoot as high a % because they take hook shots and/or jumpers.

Mitch % is inflated from how raw and limited he is and his minutes. Great dunker but I been telling y’all about these rim runners.

Azubuike broke the NCAA record in FG% and shot 75% overall for his college career focusing on just garbage paint shots.

I get all the Mitch support and I fukk with him heavy, but if the ask came down to #8 and Mitch to get Melo, I do it without blinking.

33 years on this earth and haven't seen a Knick team with any guard play with any elite skill set or the potential to be top 5 in any category. We have consistently been behind the league when it comes to wing and guard play and I'm tired of it. I got nothing but love for Mitch and if it was Mitch and Porzingis holding the team down, I'd be be less willing to give up that size advantage. The idea of Mitch catching lobs from Melo would be dope too. But if the sacrifice for Melo had to be Mitch, I'm doing it.

A Ball/RJ backcourt is murder on the break and has nice potential on the defensive end; try to make a move to grab Bane or Bey for some additional shooting at the 2/3 and grab any of Azubuike, Oturu, Carey Jr., Nnaji, or Richards with the Clippers pick as a replacement for Mitch. All bigs that can protect the paint and/or rebound and some with a shooting touch to go with it. Not the worst case scenario if we're not looking to make crazy moves in the draft.

i promise you that entire story is made up
It all makes sense. Brian Windhorst just reiterated that the Thunder are not interested in taking back any contracts. That eliminates the Sixers, the LA teams and the Bucks. It literally leaves just us unless another team wants to be a third team in that trade to just take a guy like Horford or Bledsoe.

Mitch has real good touch around the rim too. He’s not just dunks.

I know I’m anti Ball but there’s an argument to be made that Ball and RJ don’t fit. To maximize Ball’s talents, you need to surround him with shooters and defenders.

What is this based off?

He doesn’t take floaters like Brandon Clarke

He doesn’t have the short range jumper like Bam

He doesn’t have a hook shot like Whiteside or Adams

He doesn’t have that face up drive game like Trezz

He shot 50% on lay-ups the majority of his efficiency comes from his 185 dunks

They fit. Move R.J. to SF his natural position and have a sharpshooter at the 2 and a stretch 4 with a vertical spacer center.

R.J. is a secondary ball handler/point forward which allows LaMelo to play off-ball (where he has proven to be a better catch and shoot player and instinctual cutter).

LaMelo’s defense won’t be an issue his defensive rebounding, switch ability at 6’8, and knack for hitting the passing lanes, and disrupting on the inbound (Prigioni style) will make him a defensive plus especially as he fills out his body and increases his focus level.

Eye test. A lot of lay ins near the rim in heavy traffic always impressed me.
