I’m perfectly fine with that.

the case for Obi is that he’s one of like 3 players projected in the lottery that had a great season last year. He was the best player in college ball hands down and had his team #1 in the nation. The defense is bad but so are we so we can afford to not worry about teams singling him out in the playoffs for a few years at least while we pray that Thibs can get him to just be an average defender. Cause then, Toppin has all star potential.

I’m way less concerned about Obi’s defense than whether or not he can really stretch the floor with an nba line. We’re pairing him with Mitch, so I can give a little on defense for the offensive ability. He shot a good percentage from three but he took those shots mostly in crazy space, otherwise he attacked inside.

That said, I’ve got no problem getting Obi. He’s a home run swing to me and doesn’t get enough credit (older picks this year in particular are being slept on and he’s the headliner of it)...but I don’t want to leave this draft with just one player. I love Obi at 8 and wouldn’t mind him at 5 or 6 if we bought another pick and could add a pg or wing prospect into the mix.

Obi and Flynn would be an older player draft but I’d love that.

They must be positive they can land VanVleet then. I'm sure most marquee free agents knew where they were going already for the longest and they have some verbal agreements already set up.

I’m all for Toppin. All for it.

They can’t have Robinson. 8, 23, and Knox/Ntilikina should be enough.

Edwards is tanking his stock I can see him falling to Atlanta

Patrick Williams stock has risen to where teams like Chicago and Detroit love him

LaMelo looks like the first pick and solidified it with good workouts and media appearances I just don’t see the fit in Minny but he will be off the board within the first 3 picks

Some player you don’t expect will always sneak into the lottery and I expect trades

I think we will walk out with a good player

Given the rumors, tried this out in the trade machine and it went through -

Charlotte receives Russ
Knicks receive Batum
Houston receives Randle, DSJ, Rozier

Add in picks and....

Knicks get Melo and 2 years of vet tutelage for Frank and RJ at a pricey premium for the cost of #27, #38 and a pick swap for #8 while DSJ and Randle kick rocks

Hornets get Russ, trade down 5 spots to get Okungwu, get their 38th pick back and frees themselves of Batum

Rockets get young pieces on shorter contracts for Russ and a coveted 1st rounder

I think all 3 walk away with a need filled.

LaMelo has star potential, if you gotta take on an expiring and rid your late firsts to get him, you do that.

Sign a bunch a shooters to give RJ and LaMelo space, and y'all would be real entertaining while tanking next year :ehh:
