Same shyt happened at AU a few years ago. As part of a hazing, some frats put the “recruits” in the trunk of a car, and had a wreck. Killed one of the kids smh

Breh, this got me all the way fukked up because something similar happened during my own process. :mjcry:

Don’t want to talk about it though.

I hear phi mu alpha is flooded with gay dudes lol

Gay dudes have flooded every last one of them on down to OPP.

I think probably because BGLO frats were seen as the cream of the crop intelligent masculine black men when it comes to America so gay dudes prob felt joining would solidify their image as the still being the “cream of the crop”

"membership selection process" :comeon:
Black folk want to be European so bad
At HU nikkas was getting bottles smashed on their arm, Told not to walk through the yard when on campus, Uppercutted in the eye and alot of other shyt. The hazing fukkery gotta stop.
What's the significance of this Greek shyt? Why do black folk put so much importance on this euro shyt? Why dont we create African fraternities? Serious question brehs.

When I become a father I’ll make sure my son and daughter know college is first and foremost about getting an education, these extracurricular activities and social clubs are secondary and you drop that shyt if it affects your GPA.

Brothas go to college and still end up dying young for absolutely no reason :francis: Breh probably was trying get his social status up on campus and smash chicks.

Yea, that shyt is wild and RIP to the young man. My cousin told me some crazy stories about his process. nikka had to go to the hospital for fukked up ribs. My aunt almost went down there and shot them nikkas for fukking him up like that. He was initiated in there but it took a lot of money, time, and energy.

I wanted to do that shyt while I was in undergrad but the amount of money you put in there is crazy. Some frats had a pre-pledging process, which is crazy when you think about it.

The most wild shyt to me is that they think it's a good idea to trust the lives of 18-21 year olds with people a few years older or of the same age. Those nikkas aren't mentally mature to take care of themselves, let alone someone else.

Dam I havent heard anything about this and it literally happened in my area

You’re out of the loop then. I live in Atlanta and went to GT and everyone is talking about it. It seems like breh had already passed the process and just had a freak accident while practicing dance moves for the probate.

The difference between these two is that one is for singers (choir) and the other for musicians (band), right? Is there a traditional rivalry between these two orgs? I don’t really know anyone personally in either.

nah im like 99.9% positive they're both for musicians lol but KKPsi is a marching band only frat, Phi Mu Alpha is for band, chorus, orchestra, etc..

when I was in school our KKPsi chapter was suspended for hazing, and we had some folks in the band join PMA instead. My homeboy is PMA and he marched at Clark ATL

Think it depends on the situation. At an HBCU, everyone is black, so to distinguish oneself, you have to join a clique. Whereas at a PWI, where blackness is limited and black student are confronted with racism, micro-aggressions, etc., the black kids on campus rally around blackness. Kind of a microcosm of the Afram/Continental divide as it relates to how we rally around race vs. tribal identities.

I think gay dudes who pledge at PWIs are more times than not looking for legit brotherhood like the straight dudes. They don’t want to be isolated on campus and may want to establish legit bonds with other black males on campus especially if black straight males weren’t really fukking with them growing up. This was at least the case at the PWI I attended and the black orgs on campus didn’t push anyone away because of sexuality. They were more concerned with solidarity.

At an HBCU, it really becomes about the status being greek confers and that has nothing to do with sexuality. Of course, dudes will say they were looking for legit brotherhood, but more times than not, that was secondary. And to be fair, ambitious folks tend to move differently. Part of being competitive means having an understanding that credentials and networks matter. Ambitious black folks know that the BGLO system confers the best network in our community. So if you are a black person trying to make moves, more likely than not, you’re going to be cliqued up in a BGLO.

But to the bolded remark. I joined the fraternity of my grandfather and not the fraternity of my father (my father was legit angry and felt it was a rejection of him). My grandfather at one point was the president of our local city chapter years ago. Anyway, initially, he didn’t want me to pledge his fraternity because he thought and still thinks that our fraternity standards have eroded. He feels that we have let in a type of urban black male that our organization wasn’t originally made for. And he blames the introduction of violent hazing methods into the BGLO system because of them. He told me I would be better off as a GDI than associating with that element.:mjlol: Grandad is an a$$hole.:francis:

Yeah, I knew it was something like that and had always wondered if the two orgs developed a rivalry of sorts.
