When they emigrated to the U.S, they, as well as Irish, were lambasted and violently oppressed also. Albeit, not the the level of Black People.

The fact of the matter is... They were fortunate(depending on perspective) that their skin complexion didn't prevent them from going incognito with respect to bigotry.

Their ancestors would probably be ashamed at how they've assimilated into American Culture.

great post, while they were initially discriminated against for being fobby and perhaps Catholic, they were still white Europeans and by the 1940s they were assimilated into white America. I'm mostly of Irish descent, but I fukking hate when people try to act like the Irish had it anywhere near as bad as black people in the US.

I'm all for Italians refusing the status of White.

White covers Levantine Arabs and North Africans as White. So It's a bullshyt term that expands and contracts arbitrarily; thus it needs to die.

As for the race...well I've heard that historically, the Northern Italians have called the southern ones nikkas and looked down on them. But I want to know how the and what I've always wondered about is if the southern Italians don't call them German barbarians, Huns, Lombards, Ostrogoths, or something else.
