Read the thread title and instantly thought "If its not Grinding then the thread is bullshyt" :obama:




I had a instrumental beat mix CD that dropped before Xmas 01 that had the instrumental on it but not the song(the same with "Feel the girl" intrumental by Ms Jade)....So that beat was floating around late 01. But I didnt hear the actual song till early 2002.
The first DJ I heard play this song on the radio was Stretch Armstrong when he still had his Sunday night show on Hot 97. This was late 01 going into 02.

Push then spoke of a phonecall from Pharrell in which the poroducer theatened to give Jay-Z the "Grindin'" instrumental if Pusha didn't come to the studio right away. "This guy actually threatened to give the "Grindin'" beat to Jay-Z if I did not come right then and right there." In the end, Push made the right decision to come through to the lab. "I actually came, and I'm glad I did because that record was groundbreaking for me"
