UGK. Y'all really tryna tell me that y'all were UGK fans in '96? :comeon: It's cool but I didn't think it was anything special. Actually I don't think I've heard it since '97.

I think I'm gonna go with Reasonable Doubt:camby:

What does it matter what year people heard it in?

Im gonna go ahead and fight for the Fugees....

this album had a huge cultural impact and spurned the careers of many future greats

and had plenty jams

yall prolly aint play it so much cuz the Group was based around a female emcee and its natural for the men here to gravitate to the male artists on the list. Plus its more of a "world" hip-hop album considering the many heavy reggae/island influences throughout. If anything...this was probably the biggest album on the list worldwide away from the obvious Pac.

scust at yall thinking Reasonable Doubt was more respected than the Fugees in 96. Remember they both had 4 turned 5 mics in the Source.

No one else on the list was even that respected in 96.

What does it matter what year people heard it in?

it matters considering the hoopla for Reasonable Doubt being classic didnt kick off until Blueprint came out.

In 96 Reasonable Doubt wasnt any different from the rest of the albums that came out that year. Even the Source said that in its review.

They damn near dissed him saying some of the standout tracks could be on any wannbe's LP's.

I am going to go ahead and say what made Reasonable Doubt great is where Jay-Z's career ended up. Had he never became European Jay, Reasonable Doubt was just be what The Source said it was in 96. A "solid" album.

1) First off, it takes years for things to be classic. That doesn't mean anything
2) Reasonable Doubt got 4 mics. Which is highly regarded at the time, you're trying to pass it off like it was considered an "okay" album which is far from the truth. And you completely ingore in the review it says "Jay has great MCing skills and great beats" and they mostly slam the album for being misogynistic lol. come on man. A woman probably wrote that review and it still got 4 mics. You wanna know how many albums we consider clsssics now got worse ratings than 4 mics? Common's Resurrection got 3 and a half, Soul on Ice got like 3 mics.
