One bad thing about the next generation consoles is Blu-Ray

Blu-Ray is a standard now basically. The Xbox 360 having a DVD drive kinda kept game sizes in check. Now that everyone has Blu-Ray games are gonna get crazy bit.

I just read that Call of Duty Ghost has an install that takes up 50GBs on the PS4. that's 10% of the standard hard drive. Is the hard drive on the Xbox One still non-upgradable? If games are gonna take that level of space a piece it'll fill up fast.

i don't know about you but i'm a PlayStation Plus member. I got quite a few games on my 250GB PS3 from the service and Vita games and PS1 games and PSP games. Its gonna be a pain in the ass downloading these huge games and having them fill up the hard drive in the console so fast not to mention my ISP has a 250GB per month bandwidth cap. I'm watching my shows and using Netflix and Steam and watching Youtube HD ect and this is just something else to add to that to take up huge chunks of bandwidth monthly and push me towards the cap.

You know what... I want to apologize... :snoop:

Real shyt, you sad the ONE bad thing. Which is true.

I can't hate on you giving a valid negative about the next gen consoles.

I misread it and basically heard "fukk the new consoles, we have to download alot of shyt, we should stick to old tech."

Crazy rants like that are prevalent on forums. And I profiled you. My bad.

You're actually right, that will suck. Especially when you want to play the game out of the box. Plus they will charge you for cloud space when your hard drive fills up. .

The only problem I have with the new consoles apart from the :flabbynsick: specs is the hard drive size. 500GB is laughable with how much they want you to buy content online.

Hell you figure at this rate...if you have an active PS+ subscription that 500GB (450GB free) is going to fill up QUICK

yeah, lord forbid games are no longer held back by the size of the media :heh:
more like held back by archaic design choices and ISP's limitations. PC games use compression and have got by fine. only on a console do you have to upload the entire contents of a Blu-Ray in uncompressed format and install in as just the full disc.

that's what i'm saying. if they're giving away a free title a month its gonna murder that hard drive and people's bandwidth caps. something has to give with all these services demanding all this bandwidth and ISPs trying to limit you monthly.

This is what still pisses me off about the famed M$ 180

I liked the idea of being able to buy a game from the store and then use it as a digital title. Now I'm expected to download 50+ GB:scusthov: for each game if I want to enjoy the benefits of digital

hold on..... do all games have to be installed on hd? you could not play the game primarily off the disc?

You can play off the disc, but the thing that they wanna push with consoles is the ever-so-convenient ability to pre-order/download games digitally. See Sony's PS Store everytime a new game is released or going to be. They're offering pre-order discount for PS+ members, discounted/ultimate bundles for full games that include DLC and shyt, they want to eliminate disc use it seems like.

I have a good amount of games on my 360's 250gb HDD because 7-8 gigs isn't that bad to download/install 10-15 full games on with a bunch of DLC, some arcade games, and demos.

I damn sure ain't going to try to go all digital on some Steam shyt unless I can load up an external TB into my PS4/X1. 5 games at even 40 gigs a piece is 200 gigs fam. :what:

I agree that bluray is shytty but it's not the disc size that is, it's the drive speeds and noise that is lackluster as fukk.

Most games right now that come on Blu-Rays and not DVDs require an install on Playstation 3 because the disc are too large and the read speeds too slow. There's no reason not to expect that to continue into next gen. You'll likely just have to rotate install data to make room and shuffle games around on the HDD.
