McNeese is actually a good mid-major program so it'll be interesting to see how the men perform coming off a break.

The women's game could be more interesting given they're also coming off a break and playing on the road (PNW trip). Michigan should probably win comfortably, but getting pushed on the road wouldn't be a bad thing.

That was the worst officiated game I've seen all year, it was comical.

It reminded me of the TCU game for them so, WWE refs aside, they put themselves in terrible positions. Going 16-38 from the line is unacceptable and nearly cost them the game.

A win is a win I suppose, but beating Washington will require a better performance.

Lol at the low effort tweet.

I feel like this was a mix of getting fat off cupcakes and largely the timezone difference. They've been flat in both PNW games, jump shots are short, layups are short, free throws shooting is the worst it's been all season, KBA looked uncharacteristically out of it vs UDub, and the defensive lapses can probably be attributed to the break more than anything else. The difference in the games were rebounding, you can't have those bricks and get destroyed on the boards.

I expected this split, welcome to the toughest league in WCBB and Washington is a good team that should have been ranked. I'm glad they got tested though.

Yaxel started the game gingerly and he had a sleeve on his left calf. He seems to have tweaked something during the game, but he came back for a bit. Other than showing everyone he's fine idk why they bothered. Hopefully he's okay, calf injuries are tricky.

Michigan Media

Michigan Athletics
Leading up to the season the AD released their Michigan Made miniseries which follows the men's basketball this time. I embedded the episode 1 of 5 and it's the playlist versions so it should run the rest:

Also now that the football season has mercifully been put to an end the AD is starting up their Inside Michigan Basketball series, which covers both programs with more focus on MBB:

Other Outlets
Michigan's main NIL collective, Champion's Circle, also has their own media apparatus called Champ Media. They talk to athletes across all sports, so if you want player interviews that's a good place to go. Embedded are Yaxel's interview from a month ago and Nimari's interview from a few days ago:

Some alumni have also started their own media challenge called Hail Media. Former 80's MBB player Tim McCormick has a decent show where he's interviews former players, current players and staff. There's also a women's basketball show with recent former players, Jordan Hobbs and Maddie Nolan, who are currently playing overseas. I appreciate the effort, hopefully it improves if they decide to keep doing it.

For the best analysis of men's basketball you'd have to read (my preference) and I would recommend UMHoops.com. However, that's a paid site, so you can listen to the podcast which is free but it skews more towards the analytics side so it's not for everyone.

Didn’t get to see the game but it sounds like away games in the Big Ten. Physical, bad refereeing, and being unable to get in a rhythm. Read the game was almost unwatchable.

But in the end defense travels regardless and the team seems to respond in the clutch.

I don't agree with that assessment, PSU deserves more credit. They gave Illinois and sparty good games as well (Illinois ended up pulling away), so while I wouldn't call them a good team they're sufficiently annoying.

Michigan took less free throws (shot one less than PSU made), missed more free throws than usual, got outrebounded, had more turnovers, score 8 less points off turnovers, didn't shoot well from 3, and took 9 less shots. Both bigs were in foul trouble and Yaxel was hampered by injury.

Michigan isn't going to win all their games, but a lot needs to go wrong for most teams to pull off an upset. @Illinois, @Purdue, Duke, sparty (x2) and @Iowa shouldn't need all of it to win but that was the case before this game.

Freshman McKenzie Mathurin score her career high (15) off the bench. Syla got popped in the face and didn't return, so I wonder if she'll be wearing the mask again?

Wisconsin is the surprise team of the conference and Illinois is good, but it's hard not to look ahead to that January 19th game vs Vanderbilt. Hopefully the team isn't.
