The verse WAS the hook. And on top of that, when the game switched up, he rolled with the times, while maintaining the P-Funk vibe and keepin his lyrical fundamentals intact to this day.

take the chorus off of wayne, TI, X, and Red's records, then re-judge them muthafukkas. Red and X would be neck and neck. wayne would be a distant 3rd, and T.I. would barely hang.

From a producer's stand point a sample vs a used beat,is a vast difference,but if you're judging the mc based off their job and what they had to do,then yea it's the same. If I had someone I know sample pyt or if I just spit over kanye's GOOD LIFE,my job as an mc,it's the same. Unless I'm biting the original artist's flow. So saying Wayne's mixtapes don't matter is nonsense. Unless you're comparing him to all original music.
