I was in Jr high back then and although gold sales are not bad at all,is not the roof off what was utBACK THEN EITHER. I already named albums that were released in 1992 that outdid red.
Nooo you cant just go on record sales b half the people claim here around the worlds illmatics a classic yet look at the numbers that did especially early on :snoop: You got to remember people like dre cube had the whole west with them after nwa they could of dropped anything and the numbers huge.
how about how influential red is how people like sean p took him as a influence eminem meth etc

Redman's run was before my time

I lived that DMX, TI, Wayne shyt. All 3 of them had a claim for king at one point.

This nikka TI is severely underrated apparently.
Silkk the shocker was popping more out here than Redman. Dude can rap but was never the man

ILLMATIC wasnt really a classic,it was just called one by a bias mag and nas went on to be a legend.
Just like reasonable doubt wasnt a classic but jay talked it up and became a legend so it is now called one.
But when illmatic dropped,it didnt shift anything on a national scale, nor did people rush to support it. Just an alright album that didnt sell.
Sean P is not and was never a big deal outside the east. They got you brainwashed. R.I.P.to him but dude wasnt a hiphop don either,we're only talking bout him cause he's gone.

And stop with the bullshyt excuses "cube and dre had the whole west and could drop anything"
Them nikkas dropped classics, stop acting like they dropped any ole thing and it just had to sell, bullshyt.
A month after the chronic dropped, eazy dropped a tape too
5150: Home 4 tha Sick
  • Released: December 28, 1992
  • Label: Ruthless/Priority
  • RIAA: Gold[5]
Wasnt eazy the biggest star while N.W.A. was rolling?
So stop making excuses for hiphop failure like (red in the early nineties) and then finding ways to minimize hiphop greatness such as dre and cube

Discography, easily
1. Redman
2. Wayne
3. Tip
4. Dmx

But if we're talking peak levels

It's got to be Tip, Dmx was too nice in his 2-3 peak years but his albums were not classic and his time as a dope rapper was short.

ha your still going on record sales very funny how you bring up eazys ep wich went gold and is SOLD OUT cant be brought anymore it sold out imagine if they pressed more copies at the time it would of went platnium thats eazys error how about hes next ep? Ha platnium and I dont think he was the biggest everyone new cube ren doc pend all the lyrics maybe thats why doc 1st album gold mc ren 1st album gold/platinum ha ren gold but thats not riding the high of nwa right? like ice cube was with hes 1st ep? Ha so just think you have everyone buying all these albums and somehow a no name red comes along while the west was killing it and releases 3 gold albums still a great effort cant say lil Wayne or ti could do that? But again were still talking sales now you gunna say influencing ppl isnt a big deal?
Ha your kiddin ur self if you think heltah skeltah and the bcc was not kicking everywhere im not even gunna get into that one. unlike dre duke pens hes own lyrics so I aint having that :camby: imagine if half the east got on one album and shared lyrics and beats with one guy to make him shine im sure that would be a platnium album to ha brainwashed but you idolize a rapper who dosent write hes own lyrics talk to me wen dre can write hes own lyrics

red was the better rapper, silkk first two albums are better than any of red's
Ghetto D is a 3 mic album.
Whut is a 5 mic album.
I've never heard a Silkk album and have no interest. If Ghetto D is a 3, how do you rate the two Silkk albums?

My point is they didnht sell solely off of N.W.A.. Eazy's ep got added to the reissue of EAZY DUZ IT in 2002 which means it was probably in print for probably nines years but it didnt blow up cause it didnt have anything dope ushing it despite him BEING the face of n.w.a. His other one went double plat and was backed by real mf'n geez which is a classic record. See the difference.
I know red is a real mc and dre is not. Not disputing that. When i talk sales etc my point is to show that he wasnt at the top,not to say he's wack. But if dmx,t.i. and wayne were quality mc's which they all are,had the streets a blaze which they all did and sold a bunch of records,WHICH THEY ALL DID,somebody dont belong here. That somebody is RED. why? Red can rap but he was never a huge success like the others. And the others not only were huge successes but they were hotter in the black community alone too. I've never had anyone outside the internet bring red man up to me in my entire life. Never heard anyone bumping his shyt either. I'm not saying NO ONE was bumping his shyt but he was never that nikka
