If he's the backup, then you ain't seen any drama yet.
And honestly, if he can't excel in an offense that will highlight his strengths, then there's no need to have him as a backup...which is why I believe that if he isn't traded before/during the draft, then he'll be the starter.
If he doesn't start in this offense, then he literally has no value to anybody and Niners might as well cut him, buuuuuuut they can't really cut him because they'll look even more foolish for not taking the 4th rounder when they had the chance.
I'm thinking the job is his to lose, and it would take something drastic for him to lose the job.

I think having him as a backup makes sense because no one is sold on Gabbert like that.
He has done nothing to earn the starting job, keeping him as a backup allows him to be traded before the mid-season deadline too.

I think Wentz has a higher ceiling but Goff can be a decent player now, imo.

Honestly though, i want either. I want us to take a chance on a QB at 7, you don't have to pay em shyt for about 4 years and if you hit great, if you miss your paying them peanut QB salary and you can bench em/start over.
Matt Ryan ain't a terrible player. He's had some good years, he ain't the truth or anything but you can win and have a good offense with Matt Ryan as your QB.
You need a lot of extra help, but he is capable
