The thing about the court of public opinion is that yeah, you can bring out the pitch forks but most times the constitution and the law is set up to prevent mob justice. See exhibit A, the Cosby verdict and subsequent release.
In the court of law, you still have to prove a case beyond a reasonable doubt.
