i was in DC earlier this year and got a 100 $ parking ticket all cuz i wanted some damn italian ice from ritas smh..but before that even happened a fukkin trolley came out of nowhere and scared the shyt out of me as i was getting out of my car

You must've been on the H Street corridor...which has been crazy gentrified over the years. 15 - 20 years ago, you ain't wanna be caught lacking on H especially 8th and H. Times have changed.

Definitely changed in the last 15-20 years. Hell, I remember when downtown by the (MCI)Verizon Center, there was prostitution and drugs everywhere down there lol...totally different city in some parts...crazy! SE getting there now they putting DHS out there. When Barry Farms was torn down, I knew it was just a matter of time...dont worry, that NE area comin next. Ward 7 bout to go thru it. My sis and her hubby live in W7...just wait, by the Shrimp Boat on, they bout to do some real gentrifying smh

Ahh 14th Street NW...I can believe it, I partially work in that neighborhood lol...The Logan Circle neighborhood specifically. Despite them being gentrified, it’s not that uncommon to encounter fukkery at times in that area...Plus it goes through U Street and is the heart of Columbia Heights too.

Pre-COVID, that whole 14th Street stretch is a long ass party central thoroughfare of late night restaurants, bars, lounges, indie music venues, and some clubs. It can be a fun ass night out but you do gotta keep your head on swivel sometimes especially the closer you get to 14th & U where the fiends, homeless, and scammers gather inside and outside that dirty ass McDonalds.

Honestly when I saw the thread title, I was actually expecting the culprit neighborhood to be Shaw

Please tell me that noodle shop is still right there (up the street from the Verizon Center) where money made the hand made joints in the window.

That pizza shop next door was clutch too.

Shrimp Boat is about to go if it didn’t already... the owner sold last time I checked. And you’re right that whole area is next up. There are some really nice 3 story houses over there that are getting bought up. NE already underway with the north cap redevelopments that are going on.

Yeah parts of Columbia Heights are still grimy. Cats don't realize politicians/government/businsess etc. are ready for them to slip to further gentrify those spots.

Bro it's been a minute since I been down that way. Not to mention, Covid, so it's been at least two years since I was downtown 7th street area...

My wife took me to a place called China Chilcano and it was bomb. Whole area look WAY different now. Got that 4 way crosswalk. I kinda miss that old DC lol...


Lot of cacs from Verizon Center on down to the Wharf....they even remade that area lol...I don't even smell fish around there no more...damn cacs smh
