Yes, inefficiency comes from NOT making shots. If Kobe had just made 3 more shots each game, he would have shot 53% this year and not that embarrassing 36%. You have to count the % he actually shot - an inefficient 44% - not the imaginary % he would have shot if some of the shots he missed had magically gone in.

He put up 50 shots to get to 60 points. Against a Jazz team who already knew their season was over. Name a less efficient, less relevant to the team 60-point game, ever.
