Actually this guy I am working with is in an open relationship. We all had a chat about it...
We're out here doing some job training and his wife is at home. He said they're not very emotional people and it took them years to be able to even date each other. They are more of a "scientific" couple in the sense that they look at love as something that is simply chemical reactions in the brain. Apparently they are compatible though. Sex for them is not something that they are connecting with people on. He said he chats up the girls for awhile and he doesn't necessarily have to be physically attracted to them, but they have to be mildly interesting (this is awkward to me because I feel like this is creating some type of connection verses just being physically attracted to them but...w/e). He then discards the "relationship" they built. They lack the ability to connect well with others is what I gather. He also said that they don't discuss their extracurriculars, only if emotions, babies, or STD's get involved. It seemingly works for them though. His wife is actually pretty cute and he's just a slightly below average looking guy, but he's cleaning up
. I'm sure she's not doing too bad either.
He also said that once they have children they are done swinging. I don't think you should ever invite someone else into your relationship, let alone your bedroom. A lot of the people that started advocated swinging in the 70's said they later regretted it. There's a documentary about it, I don't recall what it's called. I'll try and find it...
But yea, this never seems like a good idea to me.
