Not sure if this is a spoiler but I'll put it in one anyway. His dad warned him that prison was like a fishbowl and that inmates can become fixated on things. He didn't want Piper to fixate on the betrayal her entire sentence, he thought he was sparing her.

The person she's beating is a woman as well and If I remember correctly Pipes was throwing raged filled blows on a broad laid out on concrete. Who knows how long it takes to stop her but people are justified in speculating Pennsatucky is either dead or gets carted to ICU.

I don't think she's dead but I do believe Piper is copping extra time for that shyt.

Yeah, I was just about to comment on that as well. He didn't do it to see if she'd run back to her, he did it cuz his father told him that the truth was overrated and like you said, he figured she'd try to get at her in a way that would potentially up her prison sentence.
