Also had my life threatened by some industry heads that were from the streets and when i stood up to them and was ready to go to war...they folded. Majority of these so called street dudes all bark. Ima humble guy with a temper lol. When i snap, its a wrap.

You have to not only be business savvy but gotta know how to deal with the wolves.

There is one muthafukka im still gonna fight when i see him...lol

In my experience, its always been nerdy white kids...music industry is full of cornballs bc most of the time dudes get to their position by being somebody's bytch and sticking it out long enough to get a real position...that or they know somebody

Hipster spots piss me off in their ability to pretentiously play really good rap :snoop:

Dude you posted all that just to avoid the point. Rap doesn't have to fukking "groove", period.

as I said before and had to fix your post, GREAT rap does have to groove. You wanna be considered GOAT on any level? You have to make sh*t that grooves because that's the heart of the genre to begin with.

Sure you can make your grooveless Slug and Jedi Mind Tricks raps (Em's closer to these guys in 'feel' than say... Nas), but nobody's checking for that in a grand scale. The GOATS all have groove in their music, throughout their ENTIRE discog.

Stop pretending like this is some minor thing. An edgy groove is THE defining attribute of hip hop.

Just because you don't like or can't digest Em doesn't take away from his skill. I don't particularly care for Scarface, but i'll concede the fact that dude's music is influential and his stories are dope. Learn to be objective and not a stuck in the 80's-90's nikka. That's my point, dude. Its a basic and rudimentary view on what has become a VERY diverse genre of music. To limit it in a way like "only great rap is in the party atmosphere" is basic, and a 1988 definition of the genre. Its limited and dismissive.

And BE is one of the best rap albums of the 00's and MANY agree with it. Stop being argumentative for an arguments sake. The shyt basically saved his career.

but where are these spots? :skip:

Put a hip hop newbie against the wall and he'll always talk about "stuck in the past". Yeah, stuck in the past but my avi is ASAP Rocky :mjlol:

Homie, you don't even know the past. Why you frontin?

First deflect to Common, then DMX, now Scarface? You realize that Face made "Mind Playing Tricks On Me", which is still a jammable record right? "My Block" is still a massive cut.

You keep repeating yourself, saying my perspective is rudimentary yet you have no argument for why it's the case. Other than "you old" :mjlol:

Like I said, you came up in an era when hip hop was pop. You look at this stuff as just regular-ass music. You're not part of the hip hop generation and that's why what I'm saying sounds so odd to you.

Em had bounce, soul, swagger, whatever u want to call it in his music till he became a weirdo shut in and stopped association with his black friends. Listen to the d12 albums he was swaggin on those.

Dude, at this point shut the fukk up now. I don't know the past what in the fukk does that mean. Because I wasn't dropping Paid in Full and Yo! Bum Rush the Show references? :laff: You keep saying i'm deflecting and EVERYTIME i present you with new evidence you come with some obtuse ass defense of the "groove". While simultaneously making your self sound fukking dumb because some classics like 36 Chambers or The Infamous or Bacdafucup don't have any fukking "groove" to them shyts....they are RAW and GRITTY and emblematic of coming up in crack era NYC. Wasn't shyt groovy about that my nikka...I'd expect a 30+ nikka to know and understand some shyt like that, man. :comeon:

And again NO ONE is about to play either of those Scarface cuts at a regular ass party nikka FOH. But I forgot, you chilling at hyper-exclusive hip-hop lounges that only play the finest in rap before 2006.

Yeah you can be stuck in the past, you Avi doesn't mean shyt. My avi is Neymar....but I love Arsenal just as much as Barca so....WTF does your fukking avatar on the fukking Coli have to do with what the hell we are talking about? :what: Your idealized standards of rap are based in the 80's that makes you sound fukking old. Its not an insult, its an observation.

Tracks off 36 Chambers were (and still are) played at parties, moron. Groove just means "something you can move to." an element of funk. Again, you would know this if you were actually part of the hip hop generation you claim to be.

"Hey Coli.... I VIVIDLY remember Snoop when I was 5!" :mjlol:

You're just another newbie with limited knowledge. I know more about modern hip hop than you do, let's keep it all the way real. :camby:

sure my knowlege is limited when my posts have included references and style examples from over a 25-35 year window and your only statements have been...about the "groove".

I'm done, FOH clown. I tried to approach you with respect and dignity but you took it to a level of pure fukkery and head-in-the-sand old nikka logic.

White people are the biggest consumers of hip hop though ... Who would buy the music/merchandise if they didn't ?

Also it's 2015....technology has lowered the barrier of entry into business/distribution and even access to information
You can code, crowdfund, outsource, connect with your fanbase and form partnerships with companies
and guess who's making the most of what you just typed? White people. thank you very much.

When i got into the music business in 2007, i was oblivious to how much power hipster cacs had on the business side of hip hop.

I just couldnt bring myself to acting like a ass kisser around these fukking kids that had no clue about the culture of hip hop.

I slapped a few geeky DUMBO hipsters and it was some of the best moments...fukking racist fags

Peace to Jay Elect
Please tell more or make a thread. How exactly did you get in? What lead up to the smack? You still have a music related job (assuming you bounced from the way you speak)?
