Nas by far. Light years ahead in lyricism and the range of his consciousness.

Pac tried the conscious thug thing but gave it up to be a full time studio gangsta. The worst thing is he has inspired a generation of young, arrogant thugs to be disrespectful, unruly, hostile and rebellious. Message to Pac: The consciousness that you were trying to reach went over these idiots heads. All they saw was how much of an a$$hole you were. Now look at us.

Thanks Pac! :salute:

If what you're saying true, why hasnt the great nasir lead us to higher levels since pac's been dead 17 years? Nas makes songs like THESE ARE OUR HEROES and runs to rep for a cac that called us ******s. Talks player shyt but marry's a hoe.Disses the idea of pushing poison to his people TEN YEARS OLDER,AND PRESUMABLY WISER MORE PRINCIPLED ETC he thinks it's cool to push HENNESEE...... Disses the machine he felt was responsible for jigga, payola etc, then works for jigga on defjam, and i dont ever remember a decent explanation for his hypocritical nonsense. So nas is conscious of what?

I don't think Nas can do what Pac did personally. I don't think many can though.

llike what? pac was speaking on real shyt when nas was IN HELL FOR SNUFFING JESUS :comeon: .I'M A FAN BUT nikka PLEASE

Stuff Pac could do that Nas can also do:

- Make emotionally touching songs...check
- Make deep introspective songs that a regular nikka can relate to...check
- Make political or socially conscious songs...check
- Make party songs...obviously not Nas' strength/lane, but he does have a few memorable party joints so he is capable of doing it.

Now could Pac make highly lyrical masterpieces like 'Take it in Blood' or 'Memory Lane'??...nuff said.

Its music though and creativity, in which both Nas and Pac were. However, Pac was talking that crazy thuglife crap in interviews and really speaking up on that. now we got young nikkaz like Chief Keef and other losers who just don't give a fukk. Partly, because Pac did it and it was ok to do it.

I could find 1000 Nas before I find another Pac.

Pac was a original individual.Nas was part of that 5 percent collective consciousness.Them pseudo intellectual cats come a dime a dozen. They read a few books, study the dictionary, extract the knowledge, and then go around parroting the shyt.I'm not knocking it, it's cool to see brothers utilizing their mind, but there's nothing unique about that.Like I said, I can go find about 10 Nas on my block right now.

Pac's intelligence was more visceral. He generated his own brightness. It originated with him.Not saying he didn't utilize the knowledge he found in books, I'm quite sure he did, but he didn't allow it to "intellectualize" his music like a lot of cats dude.He still had that gutty, instinctual/ spiritual element in his music. You know, those simple truths cast down in the same vein as old negro spirituals. That soul. The pathos of black pain.

Pac was the embodiment of that shyt. His mom fed it into his fetus when he was a baby. She was on trial and fighting for her life while she was pregnant with Pac.That shyt goes down into your baby and helps form the essence of their personality.

All those black revolutionaries/freedom fighters that Nas read about, Pac was raised by them.He lived under the same roof as them and peeped the game from just about every angle possible. Not just out of a book.

Experience is the best teacher.Pac was the nikka that Nas dreamed of being.Nas tries to "intellectualize his way there" but that's not where it's at.It's in your soul/spirit.If you really pay attention to detail, you can see that's what separates the two

The difference between dear mama and dance is the difference between Pac and Nas. Not to take anything away from him but Nas is often detached from the things he raps about, he takes the narrator approach where as pac brings you into the experience of what he's getting across. He's giving you descriptions, sights and sounds because he's observing. When I listened to 7DT I could feel the paranoia...when I listened to AEOM I could feel relief. He added a layer of depth that you can't really pull off when you're not really in the mix.

Really breh? You definitely used the wrong example. How the fukk was Nas "detatched" from the subject on Dance. That was one of his best and most personal tracks. You telling me you couldn't feel him on that one? Really breh?

i can see myself living without pac's music, so nas. If i ever wanted to be a rapper, i'd model myself after nas than pac as far as song making goes. Just look at what happened to all the tupac impersonators. Meanwhile, j. Cole is out here winning.
