Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. is looking for answers. He wants to know why Manny Pacquiao has been unable to score a knockout win since the late 2009 beatdown of Miguel Cotto.
For a couple of years, Pacquiao dominated several of the top names with a vicious streak of knockouts and one-sided beatings. Some believe Pacquiao has lost his killer instinct. Mayweather Sr. believes otherwise.
For years, Mayweather Sr. has accused Pacquiao of using performance enhancing drugs - at least during the period when the Filipino star powered past Erik Morales, David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.
The accusations forced Pacquiao to file a defamation suit against Floyd Sr. and other members of his family. There was a confidential settlement. That legal situation hasn't stopped Mayweather Sr. from speaking his mind.
"How in the hell did he beat Cotto up, stopped Cotto, knocked Shane Mosley down, beat Shane bad, stopped De La Hoya, stopped all these people, like I said, I’m talking about the top guys. He stops Cotto, he beat Shane Mosley, he stopped De La Hoya, just too many guys that he’s gone and beat easy and dropped them and stuff. Where did the punch go? He ain’t knocked nobody out in all these years, what is going on?," Mayweather Sr. told On The Ropes Boxing Radio .
"I wanna find out where all his power is at now. You gotta take these random tests and stuff, I wanna see where all the power is at now."
On May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Floyd Sr.'s son - Floyd Mayweather Jr. - will face Pacquiao in a highly anticipated mega-fight with three welterweight titles at stake.
