As a member of the #ColdApproachingGang, I gotta say something
I cold approach anywhere. Grocery store, DMV, doctor waiting room, on the street, waiting line at a lunch spot, on the bus/train/airport, the park, mall, auto mechanic shop waiting room, etc etc.

#1. First off, you not even engaging with the woman. Sounds like you practiced your lines in the mirror and decided to try it out. What I like to do is to do a "intro comment" to a woman. Talk about something in the surroundings and gage if she's actually interested to talk in the first place. And see how she responds to you coming up to her. From there, you got an in, and you can get to know her if she's interested

#2. Have a conversation for like the first minute about something OTHER than her looks or dating. Show you have a personality and a gift of gab

#3. Show a sense of humor and be confident with your humor. Don't gotta be a stand up comedian, but joke a little

#4. Have a slower pace of the conversation. She'll sense anxiety a mile away
