Ehhhh....can't say he's wrong. But Nas has a legit argument for G.O.A.T., f'real. I don't think people truly understand just how much time is encompassed in a G.O.A.T. argument....we're talking decades. Some people throw the G.O.A.T label out there when what they're REALLY implying is "in MY (their) lifetime/experience", which is more limited.
F A C T S A lot of it has to do with Nas music and content not really being as easily digestible, or "cool" as some of his peers as well...even to me, a super duper fan, musically I wish he'd make more shyt for the 85'ers, lol...just cause I want my guy to shine. That's why I love KD, its quality but also easily digestible. But he is right, all the unbelievable ones get kinda slighted or completely ignored, for the most part
by whom? dude is one of the most celebrated artists in rap. at the very least most people consider him top 5.
I think this went on earlier in his career but the more the years go by the more people realize and recognize he's great.
All these young kids doing reactions to Nas on Youtube be losing their minds The legacy will live on Sooner or later they'll all know who the prophet is
A lot of listeners don't handle metaphor heavy lyrics well. You gotta be simple and direct for them understand you. I remember back in college playing Illmatic for people and they were all like, "Nas be using big words" They loved Pac though.
brehs who used to hate on nas would say shyt like "I don't want to think while I listen to music" and phrases like "big words"
most critiqued if Nas dropped that unmixed ass Jay-Z, Jay Elec mixtape he would have been crucified for his "beats being trash"
An inconsistent discography and lack of hit records. Been pretty much a Gold or less artist since 2002.
