  1. The nice part of LA being quite literally a block or two from the slums. Literally, I whipped a corner in Figueroa where I saw barrels burning and hookers being chased by pimps, then saw Asian people walking cute dogs with Starbucks in one hand with no fear a couple blocks away.
  2. The immediate area outside of most US military bases stateside being the hood.
  3. White people being perfectly fine with Asian people usurping their position(s), but Black people that have been here since the inception of America being constantly dehumanized and disenfranchised.

I don't know if it technically qualifies as a paradox but i catch myself randomly thinking about this once in a while ever since i learned about it.

Another way of looking at this is through the lense of the actual fairy tale

Sleeping Beauty (French: La Belle au bois dormant, or The Beauty Sleeping in the Wood[1][a]; German: Dornröschen, or Little Briar Rose), also titled in English as The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods, is a fairy tale about a princess cursed by an evil fairy to sleep for a hundred years before being awakened by a handsome prince. A good fairy, knowing the princess would be frightened if alone when she wakes, uses her wand to put every living person and animal in the palace and forest asleep, to awaken when the princess does.[6]

if the evil fairy puts the princess to sleep, but the "good" fairy puts the whole forest to sleep. Is the good fairy also the evil fairy? is the evil fairy the good fairy's' wand?

do only hours elapse while we're sleeping? or millenia?

It’s an interesting concept:

If God knows all, sees all, etc. then free will is a myth. And you’d get punished or rewarded for consequences outside of your control

If free will exists then God does not know what you are going to do, so he is not omniscient

:wow:

In Batman Vs Superman when Jesse as Lex
Said “if god is all good then he cant be all powerful and if he is all powerful he cant be all good” struck me like oh damn

Epicurus paraphrased:

“If God is all benevolent and all powerful then where does evil come from?

If he is all benevolent but can’t stop evil he is not all powerful

If he is all powerful but chooses not to stop evil, then he is not all benevolent

If he is neither all powerful nor all benevolent, then why call him God” :wow:

Close your eyes and slowly put your index near the tip of your nose without touching it.

...how did you know where your nose was? :sas1:

You didn't use sight, taste, smell, touch or hearing, i.e. any of your five senses.

We also actually know that your brain makes your nose invisible to the eyes because you actually look at the sides of it constantly.

So how'd you know where to put your finger? :sas2:

(This is actually evidence that we have more than five discernable senses, which could include being able to sense electromagnetic pulses. The above is called body schema, i.e. being able to sense your body's position in relation to itself without using any of your five senses. It gets way more mind-fücky the more you think about it.)

It's not considered a paradox but the gambler's fallacy still fukk me up.

If you flip a coin and hit tails 25 times in a row, what is your chance of hitting tails for the 26th flip? Is it lower, the same, 50/50 ?

Probability theory says that the chance of hitting tails 26 times in a row is very low.

BUT the chance of hitting tails for the 26th time is 50/50.

Both at the same time.
:why:

It'd be like playing this Squid Game where you have to choose and jump on one of two platforms and hope you don't land on the one that'll break and kill you.

Probability theory says that if the platforms' placement is really random, every jump has the same probability to kill you or be successful.

Which means that if you choose the left platform and survive... You have just as much chance to survive by choosing left on your next jump. Not a lower chance.

If you jumped left 5 times in a row and survived, you have just as much chance to keep surviving with a left jump as with a right jump on your 6th move. Not a lower chance.

That lowkey blows my mind even if I know why it is wrong in terms of the theory.

if you don't have an inner monologue it means literally you don't think before you speak.

that is a sign of some type of mental issue.
I don't think that's what it means. I don't have an inner monologue, that doesn't mean I don't think. That just means I think internally in a non-verbal way.
