Parents and hypothetical parents, would you homeschool your kids and let them learn through YouTube/online, and at least one hour of reading a day? 👀

School is about socialization

Homeschooling sets a kid all the way back socially

i think it's a reflection of their parents. a lot of people don't like ish and dont go outside. i was in a recent thread where the consensus seemed to be people think it's normal to not interact with friends and socialize once they have kids.
but there are some people who go to church, actually have friends they kick it with, actually hang out with family members, go to the playground, etc.
i think those kids are socialized before they even go to school, and probably wouldn't need school as the only socialization tool. that's on the parents to get them outside though.

I agree with you… when most ppl talk about socialization I think they’re talking about being awkward…

But isn’t that already a problem ? Kids glued to their phones? Low confidence. They don’t go outside? Depression? They fight teachers, drugs etc… and if they with other kids in public schools… there’s a likelihood of them being corrupted by other bad kids’ behaviors. :manny:

Not even saying homeschool has to be for all 12 years… it would be interesting to try

And like you said, you can get your kids to socialize in other ways tho—church, family, team sports, parks 🤷‍♂️… something productive.

I wonder how do the Amish do it 🤔 they might have their own schools tho.

No. Anyone that‘s a parent knows what I’m talking about when I say that this generation of kids‘ social skills are shyt as it is.

Get your kid outside, let them socialize with other kids and minimize their screen time.
