Before the shooting?

Do you have a link for it? That would be a helpful nugget to combat the gun rights morons.

Here's the second part, still looking for the first. I absolutely believe it cause there was armed security or police at Columbine when it happened too.

I hope the solution isn’t to have a swat team at every school going forwards or thoughts and prayers.

:comeon:
A gun shall be placed every three feet. You should never be more than a yard away from a gun. Sometimes Bad Guys will use these guns, but if at least 51% of the population is Good Guys, we'll come out on top. Gun.

I keep telling folks mental health issues is the culprit and not accessibility to guns.

But when that gun ban finally comes down the pike and it solves nothing folks will simply switch narratives. I can see it already.

The issue is violence and mental health instability. Shouting 'gun control gun control!' won't solve shyt. Reason being is that the country has gun control. Tons of it. People who shout about gun control never state this or refuse to look into it. We have gun control. We give less and less of a shyt about mental health issues all the time. Hence shyt like this keeps ramping up. And people think it's about accessibility to guns. You're looking in the wrong direction!

There is literally nowhere else to go with gun control except an all out ban. Anybody who actually looks into the gun control laws knows this. Longer waiting periods? More screenings? What do you suggest? Don't just shout gun control! Be more solid. Where do you want the laws to go? And, more importantly, how do you plan to deal with folks that won't follow these laws? That will be your main issue.

People attach mental health issues to just about everything but when it comes to guns it's suddenly all about 'well it's too easy to get one' and leave it at that. One size fits all solutions won't work here anymore than it works anywhere else.

There's atleast one mass shooting a day on average on America.

I've been thinking about this all day and the conclusion I've come to is that a real gun ban would cause another civil war. Every rural area and most suburban areas versus the feds. Various law enforcement agencies picking sides. Total chaos.

I don't deny frequency of shootings although I'd deny there's at least one a day on average. My post was more about the futility of simply shouting gun control and discounting mental health issues. What are your thoughts on that?

And it wouldn't solve shootings. Honestly I don't even think it would cause civil war. There'd be more black market sales, of which there are plenty already(something else folks love to gloss over). We need some solid solutions to this and folks, shouting about gun control ain't it. I say focus more on mental health and quit putting it on the back burner.

The nation is becoming more violent and crazy. 'taking the guns away' isn't the solution everybody tries to make it out to be.

Counterpoint: Countries with strict gun bans have far fewer shootings.

List a country in question. I'm curious as to how they handle black market weapon sales or if they even have to put up with them(this is a sad reality for us that isn't an issue for many). I also want to focus on how much attention they pay to mental health issues. How is their country's health insurance system? These are the things we neglect here in the US. It's hard to compare us to other countries if their approaches to underlying issues differs from ours. And that's my focus above all. The underlying issues.

Give me an example country so I can research them. I'm down for healthy debate. But this issue is more complicated than people make it out to be. That's my point. Much much more complicated. Especially for a country of this size and population. The comparisons usually aren't even close to being fair. But I'm willing to research.

Australia :yeshrug: Australia also has free healthcare for its citizens.

I think they go hand in hand. Put gun restrictions on people with a history of mental instability. Don’t let a regular joe come off the street looking for semi auto obtain it. Let’s evaluate people’s history... medical, mental, drug abuse domestic abuse, military record etc

Gonna go look into them more and come back. Free healthcare is definitely a plus. Off rip I'd say they have a huge advantage over us simply by being cut off by water. Black market is probably nonexistent compared to us. And a smaller population. Stuff makes a difference.

Right, because most of our shootings are done with Mexican and Canadian manufactured guns.:heh:

This is why I'm saying there would be a civil war. We make the guns. We distribute the guns. Cacs love the guns. You're right, it's complicated.
