The worst part is that conspiracy theorists are so wrapped up in their stuff that this will actually fuel them further.
Conspiracy Theorist: "All those girls were paid to make up lies about nice old Roy Moore."
Rational person: "No, that was a lie, it's already been debunked."
Conspiracy Theorist: "Sheriff Israel impregnated a teenager and forced her to have an abortion!"
Rational person: "No, that was a lie, she admitted she was paid to say that."
Conspiracy Theorist: "She! People DO pay girls to make up lies about public officials! I was right! That justifies any other conspiracy I want to believe for partisan reasons even if the evidence is against it!"
That's not satire. That is literally exactly how it plays out in their heads. I've seen it too many times.
It's like the conservatives who claim they need to be elected because government is incompetent, wasteful and corrupt, then come into office and immediately prove themselves to be incompetent, wasteful and corrupt, which somehow causes their supporters to only double down, "You see how corrupt and incompetent these officials are? THAT is why we need small government conservatives in power!"
