I think wwf going to Europe for like a month after EC didnt help either :heh:

Going to Europe wasn’t the problem, lowkey they made it better because they booed the fukk out of Cena every show he was on unlike Vegas

The issue was the timing. It took 2 weeks for Cena to speak after the heel turn

So, my theory was somewhat correct. Rock had the idea to turn Cody heel, Triple H suggested Cena instead, and Rock didn't feel the need to be part of it past the initial turn. Okay.

It's also 100% clear that Rock wasn't going to be involved in WrestleMania at all and the Netflix premiere was him shutting the door on all that. He got what he needed out of the Final Boss character last year and he has other things to worry about.

I'm just trying to figure out why he needed to be on screen. Cena could have still turned at the Chamber and cut the same promos. It wouldn't have changed anything. It also keeps Travis Scott from being in an awkward position because nobody wants him involved. Being associated with The Rock justified his place, but now, it makes the match look worse than before. It's not even like he did it on Rock's orders, he just came out there to screw Cody because this is really important to him now.

It really makes me wonder what they would have done if Ari didn't call up Rock for ideas. Just seems like there were too many hands in the cookie jar this year and it made the buildup confusing and disjointed.

I still think Rock would have been more involved if Cody turned heel. He's not connected to Cena enough to care about what he does.

He should have shut that door the day after last year Mania but he left a teaser .. He then comes back at Bad Blood and does the throat slash which further let's the viewer think hes still involved....

He can't stay out of his own ego

Cena hasn't even mentioned The Rock once since EC

His outlet has been the pent up resentment he had for the fans.

Yep, the perception that critics had though hurt the feud because they all kept asking where's Rock? Even after the very first promo Cena cut.

If Rock never got involved I wonder who people would of perceived the feud?

After yesterday's promo from Cena, everything is a reset. shyt is irrelevant at this point.

It hurt the Mania main event, but you move on from it.

We gonna look back at Cena’s heel run between EC and Mania like the NWO from No Way Out 02 to WM 18

So I actually listened to his explanation first hand instead of going by what y’all said lol.

So I understand where he is coming from, he is trying to play the long game and also doesn’t want to do a one off. He wants to be able to commit to being there routinely. He felt like he set up this great angle and he wants to sit back and watch it play out. He talked about not needing to be part of it because it’s not about him. I get that.

However

:camby:
1. It’s Mania, this was the only show he should have been at even if it was just to celebrate with Cena.
2. Like I’ve said it’s the rock his involvement is going to shift the focus to him so if he wants to play the background stay off tv.
3. It’s ok every idea he comes up with isn’t going to be the right one. He got it wrong this time. That’s why he on this show explaining himself. It didn’t work and that was a miss.

For the sake of the company, Rock should just stay away next year. Completely. I want to say that part of the booking failure this year is on Triple H because they pivoted after the Rumble and the Netflix premiere got rid of potential Mania matches, but this was a big distraction they didn't need.

In a perfect world, this year's Night 2 main event would have been Cody/Rock for the title or Roman/Rock in Tribal Combat, but what are you gonna do? :manny:
