That's terrible for the player, what if you stuck in sh!tty situation with no way out?
You don't have to sign. They could simply offer a shytload more. His theory didn't say anything about restricting the player movement. Just incentivizing them to stay. Ultimately it'd still be the choice of the player.

that would actually work... but would take the fun out of shear dominance and breaking the dominance out of the game.

Cavs didn't break GSW if anything they are like the Mavs when they beat the Heat and that dominance might now just starting.

He basically said each team could keep their superstar, which means trap their superstar

They used to have that, it was called bird rights. Now the advantages of sticking with your "home" team is minimal which is why guys don't hesitate to bounce.
