TYRONE GA!
You don't have to sign. They could simply offer a shytload more. His theory didn't say anything about restricting the player movement. Just incentivizing them to stay. Ultimately it'd still be the choice of the player.

That's could work as long as the choice to accept it or not is viable:ehh:

Terrible idea

If okc's best player is russell Westbrook, and my teams best player is Eric bledsoe, i NEED these guys salaries to count against the cap

If russ cost 30 mil and bledsoe costs 20 mil, that gives me an extra 10 mil for better teammates to balance things out

This franchise tag doesnt solve anything, it just stops players from being able to leave
The scenario where the player has the option to take the tag or not is key. You can still not take it but you'd leave mad bread on the table

Thats not what im talking about

If one teams best player is lebron and one teams best player is al horford, then neither count against the cap

Lebron+94 mil in cap room

Vs

Horford+94 mil in cap room

Thats terrible

Won't ever happen

Anything that takes away from superstar teams won't happen in the league and I'm not even talking about a big 3. Take the old thunder for example Durant and Westbrook would have both been tagged to different teams.

This idea is a move in the right direction. Can only franchise for two years though, or offer some insane 4yr/425MM contract for LeHenny

You could say the franchise tag counts as a max contract on the salary cap, but teams are still able to spend whatever they want on that player

So LeBron is getting 100m a year but it only counts as 30m against the cap

That doesnt change what i said

If lebron and horford count for the same amount against the cap then youre making it impossible for the team with horford to compete

fukk that. Then you're a rich loser like Chuck.
I'd rather be someone with Chucks money than literally anyone on this message board. Known for being a NBA loser or not.

TBH I don't think losing or not having a etched in gold 'legacy' bothers many players. They look at their bank account and go :manny: (no 'toine walker).

How is that any different from the current max structure we have now? Bron and Horford are pretty much making the same amount of money so it's basically the same concept in regards to the cap room that their respective teams have left over. Only difference is that Bron's salary is depressed while Horford and other comparable players are hitting licks.

What happens when you get a situation like OKC drafting multiple stars? If they only get one slot, it'd be pretty much a lock that they lose one of them
