I ain't even gonna act like I keep with the MLB so you know more than me lol. I live in DC but couldn't tell you a damn thing about the Nationals. I just go to games to drink a brew and relax :russ: the crowds seem pretty chill here IMO but it wouldn't surprise me if it's the same situation in Philly :yeshrug:
Its the same at most ballparks. All I was saying is that the Nationals are like the Browns if you watch football or the Orlando Magic. And Harper was there pre-Baker or pre-Dwight then got offered more money to go play for the Chargers or the Mavericks. The Browns or Magic having that one season where they make it to the title game right when you leave still doesnt make it a "better" thing compared to the teams you went to. Those other teams have a pedigree of competing every year.

You got folks who don't take a a certain job cuz it would be more stressful despite it paying more. And us poor people need every dollar we get.

If I had decision between 300 Ms and 330 Ms and the 300 gig was better and less stressful, it's a no brainer b. But that's me lol. My kids will be set for life off 300 million :mjlol:

Look at Kevin Durant, he took the easiest route possible for a championship and damn near ruined his legacy as one of the best basketball players of his era. So much so that he had to take ANOTHER paycut to go to Brooklyn and try to get his rep back.

His own teammates didn't respect him, Draymond called him a bytch on live TV

As a Phillies fan, I can say Harper wasn't the problem (or Kapler) so much as bad pitching and bad luck with injuries. That'll sink any team. Congrats to the Nats, but let's wait until they win the WS before all this Harper screwed up talk.

His great great grandchildren can't eat championship rings.

That extra 30 million is another couple of generations of his family that'll never have to work

He was going to get paid regardless. A ring would have made sure he could have a future well outside baseball long after his career ends.

Washington offered him $300 million, but took it off the table when it was fairly obvious that he wasn’t going to re-sign. He only got $30 million more from Philly. Scott Boras is his agent, so he was going to get every dollar his could get regardless of the situation that he was going to. Yes he got his money, but now he’s stuck there for 12 years. If he and his wife think that Philly fans were mean to him this year, continue not living up to that contract and see what else happens.

It was a ton of deferred money meaning they do not have the cash on hand. He's getting all of that money with Philly. The way he was talked about after he left showed that there was tension in the clubhouse. Washington got hot at the right time and needed awful managing to win in both elimination games. If Counsell doesn't go to Hader in the 8th, Washington is likely home right now. Same for Dave Roberts blowing yet another series with his poor decision making by putting in Kershaw instead of Maeda or Jansen.

From the thread, I took it Harper didn't care about the easiest route...he simply left cuz the Phillies offered more money :hubie:I'm saying if DC was a better team and better city, I would have stayed for 300 Ms. Staying "loyal" to one team is usually seen as a good thing anyways...no one would have said he took the easier route. They probably would have said he was stupid for not taking as much money as he could tho.

If this is true, then I understand. Always go for guaranteed cash. I don't know how MLB contracts are set up but if it says 300, it better be 300 :francis:

Are u serious?

This man already has the nike deal, cover of video games, casual fan name recognition.

What else can he acquire but the money?

So we're gonna act like ken Griffey jr, Tony gwen, and barry bonds didn't have a future after baseball? (Well maybe skip Barry)

Even if they don’t win the WS I’d still say that it was a success. They proved that they could make it this far without him which a lot of people didn’t think that they would do.

Is this a joke? :skip: This isn't some guy who is bouncing back and forth from the minors or someone who has a ceiling of AA baseball who has to worry about getting a job after 30. His future is set.

I'm a nationals fan and I'll tell u that they might be the better team this year, but they're not the better organization.

Not to mention the fact that trying to even come close to what the Phillies offered him would've guaranteed that the nationals would never put the pieces around him to be perennial contenders.

It would've been an endless cycle of young players getting hot and eventually leaving for more money and bigger markets.
