What the hell do we do with Aqib Talib?

Dude was our best CB, and when he is out of the lineup our secondary is trash. But shyt man, dude is going to want 7 to 10million per. Can we really pay that type of money to a man who cannot stay on the field?

I am really at a loss of what to do. Dude when healthy deserves the money, he is great in the locker room. But shyt man, he is going to take up a lot of cap space.

I am leaning to pay the man, but I am nervous.

What y'all think..

It's a tough call. We need to revamp the o-line, the d-line and we needs WRs. I mean VETERAN WRS. This was the type of game where you needed a Boldin. We also have to go draft a back up tight end for Gronk. Ballard and all those people we brought in to try to be the back up had to go.

We basically designed the offense this year on the fly because of Aaron. He was more or less going to be the focal point this year. It was to the point where he was sleeping at Brady's house last summer just running routes. The way the Broncos played today is what our offense is supposed to be like. They basically beat us running our offense but with better players at every position.

So knowing all that, how can you spend that much money on a CB who will play 10 games at most and is injured at the drop of a dime...

I just don't know.

Even without him your defense held that Broncos offense to 26 pts at home. Meanwhile your offense only scored 3 pts through 3 qtrs and only started scoring once Denver basically went into a prevent. Pressure on Brady, his inability to connect when he did have opportunities early, and a lack of impactful skill position players hurt you way more than Talib's injury.

I am actually content with our WR core. The rookies played to my expectation(Would have exceeded them if they stayed healthy). I think Dobson Thompkins Boyce is a good foundation. I think we need to sign Edelman, but structure his contract where the first year cap hit is not bad. We can cut Amedola need be after next year with a minimal cap hit, but it has to be after next year.

I honestly have no idea what to do with Talib, but if it is more then 6 million per, we might have to let him walk. Now if Ahern is implicated in that double murder in boston, we might be alright cap wise. As explained HERE

I just don't know what we do with Talib. I don't think we can justify paying him top dollar when he gets hurt as much as he does. We might just have to see what the market is for CB this year.

As to the Draft. TE and OL are priorities for me. We will not be able to get Ebron, but Jace Amaro and Austin Seferian-Jenkins need to be high on our list.

Ya, that is why I am leaning TE and OL as priorities in the draft. I am content with the WR group.

NEW ERA
fukk that. Invest some money into the fukkin' offense. nikkas on y'all defense have been getting paid over and over, yet they refuse to pay a receiver for Brady besides Gronk.

Money was invested into the O, but one dude went on a killing spree(a 8million dollar dead money cap hit) the other had his knee destroyed. Beli will never pay big bucks for a WR, it is what it is. As much as I dislike it, fukk I dislike it.. :snoop:

EDIT:AHern is a 7.4 million dead cap hit next year not 8 million.

Over the past few years there has been one constant in all the pats's losses: OL getting manhandled, No pass rush, and smurf receivers getting shut down. Until 2/3 of those things changes, the outcome will most likely be the same

Agreed.

Which leads to a whole different question. Do you take the money you would pay for Talib, and instead use that money for the Bengles Michael Johnson. Who the Pats where going to go after hard last year before the bengles franchised him?

I think Belichick cant do 90% of what we all know he can do without a physical secondary and Talib has been the best corner here since Ty Law

Gregory sucks, Arrington cant play outside, Logan and Dennard are intriguing corners bit not studs nd McCourty is solid if not bland.
Unless you bring in another veteran with size, its hard to let him walk and think well be ok.

I think our first round pick will be on the line for sure, though which side, im not sure. Pats need to see if Dobson can handle the X and grow next season, or this will be a replay of the past 4 years.

that offensive interior line needs improved, mankins looks :flabbynsick: I never seen him physically get beat like that, a backup tight end is also needed but that could be had in a later round.

paying a injury prone corner over 6-7 million a year isn't the way to go imo so I wouldn't agree with paying him that much but thats just me, but he is a top notch corner when healthy so its a carp shoot.

the recievers and backs are fine but the oline and secondary needs some help.

Ugh, and that is the rub, Beli needs that lock down corner to really open up the book for the D.

As to Dobson, I am really high on him. Really think he will be that dude at the X next year.
