But now that I have your attention, I wanted to pitch this idea to any bros who are in between jobs and/or looking to make a few extra bucks this summer.
Start a summer camp!
1.) You don't need any money to do so. Virtually no start up costs.
Most principals will welcome summer camps being offered at their schools so you can have free access to their gyms and equipment.
And a lot of schools offer free breakfast and lunch.
2.) Choose a skill you do for free anyway. For instance, if play basketball, you can train students and coach them (for a summer camp fee) and THEN host intramural games against local leagues and teams in the neighborhood for more money!
3.) Rack in the money! Some young dudes started a summer swim camp and charged some wealthy parents $700 per child for the month of June and July. The children would go to swim practice with them from 9:00-11:00am or 11:00-1:00pm for "conditioning" and "training". They didn't even get in the water themselves.
They had over 50 students for the month of June and 64 for July.
They made STUPID money doing absolutely nothing during the summer. They weren't even liable for students who couldn't swim b/c they were at facilities with lifeguards.
Several black male teachers at my old schools hosted one basketball camp and they made BANK. Split damn near 16k between the 3 of them with minimal work.
4.) I've done this in the past. I offered a summer student professional development camp for two weeks to 10 high school students for $400.
We did stuff like SAT/ACT prep, job shadowing, college tours, museum tours, reading circles, resume and cover letter writing, college applications, interviews and panels with college professors and business owners.
SMOOTH $4000. I could have done it again two weeks later b/c I had a wait list. Only reason I didn't make more money was because I didn't wanna be bothered with any more than 10 kids at a time over the summer.
