I don't get it. The cloud backs up all your photos and downloads. The Play Store/Apple Store saves all your purchased apps. Your browser saves all your passwords and browsing history. If your phone is damaged beyond repair, the transition is seamless. It's just not the issue today that it was even just ten years ago.
