edit: Put simply, what you are trying to imply would suggest one could simply take the baked potato and scoop it into a pie crust and they would have sweet potato pie. But anyone who has prepared these two items knows the texture would be entirely different, taste as well, they aren't the same. Baking is pure chemistry, they couldn't be the same due to the preparation steps.

I just looked up the ingredients for both recipes. It's the same shyt except the pie got eggs.

fukk imma eat sweet potatoe pie after eating nearly identical tasting candied yams. Is the taste vastly different? No its damn near the same taste. And then yall nikkas keep bringing up texture. Texture this. Texture that. The texture is different. :unimpressed:


Pecan pie is and will always be superior to Sweet potatoe pie.

Even the taste is different because of the texture. Eggs/milk alter the taste w/o question.

Taste and texture are two different things. Texture does not change the taste of something. :dahell:Spaghetti with Mac and cheese sauce will taste identical to regular Mac and cheese.

It's potatoes, the shyt is identical.

100%, who is making your sweet potato pies? Baking is chemistry, the simple fact that the preparation differs before the baking process makes all the difference in the world. Like I said, go buy that pie then compare it to the candied yams scooped into a pie crust, it won't be anywhere near the same.

Simply put, the person making the pies you have had is making it such that the preparation leads to a similar consistency, you are interpreting that consistency as being universal for sweet potato pie in general, I'm saying that's foolish because baking is chemistry, different ingredients, temperatures, and timings, make the difference. If you think a sweet potato pie by whoever you are used to having it by and a professional will be the same, it simply won't.

So what is actually happening right now is you arguing experience, I can't argue with that, it may be that your experience has been one where they are equalized. That has not been my experience at all, and simply familiarizing yourself with basic baking would dead the notion you are suggesting.

R.I.P my Pops that nikka used to bake a chocolate pecan pie. I don't know the recipe or how he did it, but that muthafukka was bussin. A lil sweet, but shyt just worked for some reason.
