You can argue that, but that stat is still there.
The stat is about children born to unwed mothers. The stat is not about whether fathers are in their children lives. Apparently that is what people don't seem to comprehend. Half of all children born in the USA are born to unwed mothers. There are children born to married couples, but that does not mean that the child is that of the father. There are people citing stats that don't know what they are trying to say.

I don’t think a lot of ppl recognize that single mother just means unmarried... doesn’t meat that the father is a deadbeat & out the picture. I remember somebody trying to shame Carmelo for being raised by a single mother not knowing his father died from an illness

Of course this could be a community to community issue so we can only speak on our own experiences

Its also not an accurate stat because families can say they are single for financial reasons. A woman can live with her husband but claim single to get government benefits for her kids.
A mother can claim single on her taxes even of her husband stays home with her so that her kids can get more financial aid.
In order to survive a black people have always gamed the system. So stats are always no accurate.
As far as the 70% black kids born out of wedlock it isn't an accurate stat as well. Cause a child can be born out of wedlock but their parents stay together. A child can be born out of wedlock but their parents get married after they are born. A child can be born out of wedlock but the parent they live with gets married and the child is raised in a two parent household with a step parent.
