So i assume some people would rather have them pose while passing a blunt? No wonder us African Americans cant get shyt right. We cant even show compassion and appreciation to one another without being called gay or sweet. :mjlol:

How is caressing the back of a nikka's head showing compassion and appreciation :dahell:?

What kinda fukkery you on breh :dame:

Why is his hand on that man's head like that?

My husband sometimes puts his hand on my head like that for "guidance"
:shaq:

:mjlol:
Have some self respect.

:scust:

I'm gonna get burned for saying this but Cooger looks like he has mental issues. I was shocked when I heard him speak. :merchant:

This is how I saw the picture: Michael B Jordan and Coogler are two young black creatives in a industry that is predominately white as far as an actors and directors go. Ryan Coogler doesn't look "submissive" he looks discouraged. Michael B Jordan on the other hand is starting straight into the camera, with a face that suggests he's ready for the challenge. I look at it as them and Michael B Jordan specifically, telling White America that "you don't have to give us anything. We're coming to tear every wall down. Every obstacle. We're coming and we can't be stopped." They're two for two on Classic movies. Michael B Jordan as lead star, and Coogler as director. Both of their performances both infront of the camera, and behind it, in both movies were DEFINITELY Oscar worthy. Yet, no noms. I see a confident Michael B Jordan, almost sure that their time is coming. The picture suggest that he wants Ryan Coogler to keep his confidence and his head up while they embark on this journey together. Because the worst thing you can do is lose your touch. MBJ looks determined to keep working hard and to get himself, and his director the recognition they deserve.

Or,

They could just he fags :troll:
When you are discouraged, you are ready to submit, aka give up. Why Ryan gotta be discouraged tho? Why is MJB the one looking defiant, and ready to buck aka dominant. That's the issue I have, is the contrast.

There were much better ways to do this. I think they deliberately picked this pic for controversy.

It would look much better if Coogler was facing forward too. I don't get why MJB is the Dom and Coogler is subbing. We couldn't have two strong brehs?

OAN, people don't have to be outraged to discuss topics on a discussion board.

My first thought was how awkwardly posed they are and how unnatural the body language is.
Second thought, that it was supposed to look like brotherly love and completely failed. Cuz they're stiff and borderline mean mugging the camera.
Or like one of those 'come here son', hug to the chest, staged sitcom dad hugs. But after the dad reaches for his son to console him after he fell off his bike yet before the full protective bear hug reassuring your boy that you're more grateful he's in one piece than angry that he totaled the car. *cue fake audience saying awwww*

Which is awkward to put Jordan in the dominant paternal role, almost glaring protectively while shielding his 'kid' when they are ostensibly equals with a professional relationship that is a partnership, not a mentorship.

Magazine photo shoots can be odd as hell though. Celebs look wooden and fake, models look like bizarro world mannequins.

So I guess I agree it looks weird/stupid?
I just don't see homoeroticism.
If they were in a relationship, yeah. But since they ain't I just see a fake bro hug mixed stupidly with awkward editorial styling.

He always sounded pretty thorough to me. he didn't seem to be kowtowing or pandering to the establishment , didn't put on his best Kanye nasal inflection, seemed to be direct and straight forward. .. said he even told Stallone straight up like " I gotta part for you. " he seemed solid.

And that makes me wonder why he'd agree to this pose considering his presentation when I've seen him in previous interviews.

And there are so many classic, masculine poses they could've suggested and chosen.

*Giving each other a pound
*giving each other dap
*arm on shoulder
*a fukkin fist bump. .. lol
*even one with with an arm around the other if they wanted to go for more touch. ..smh

I blame all parties for thus subtle emasculation
