Schoolboy Q, J. Cole, Action Bronson. Not many folks I listen to. I keep it on older hip hop music stations here.

Went from 90s classics to future and spitta classics :banderas: i evolved with the time but to a certain extent because i was a die hard old school hip hop and anything NY then explored other regions music and now have settled on the irrepressible spitta andretti and future hendrix and i eat pretty well :obama: i check for some affiliates too ala smoke dza or kid daytona but usually stick to my tried n tested hitmakers:whew:

Impressed ?

Not really.. Rappers no longer have the goal of being the best lyrically

To me Kendrick is one of the few newer guys that puts together a great flow through crafting good lyrics and delivering a message

I'd also put J. Cole in there

But for the most part rap is now about making pop music which is mostly bullshyt

I still fukk with new music, but nobody has had me like :mindblown: from a lyrical standpoint anymore in many years. The last person to seriously impress me was probably Lupe on his debut album.

More I listen to Future I realize he's top 5 dead or alive..

Dude is on another level
I hated on him at first but 56 night, Monster, Purple Rain, and DS2 won me over.. I cant deny his greatness any longer

There's probably 3 or 4 under 30 rappers, I can listen to and think they have impressive moments. Vince Staples, Joey Badass, Earl and to some extent Casey Veggies. Tsu Surf from where I'm at is nice to but I think he just get's extra points for being a grimey ninja.

I'll say this, I think the floor is higher now than it was a decade ago, even if you're not the best lyricist, you have to be able to craft a song and stick to a theme more than you did back then.

Lupe Fiasco and Kana'an, mabe

But to b honest with you ive gone away from hiphop the last...3 or 4 years. The few times im at a club or bar and they play hiphop i just stop looking to be impressed and just go with the flow. I find myself fukking with more electronic and foreign music these days. Reggae, Kompa, Zouk, Kizomba dropping gems out there these days
At least we have options, B. :yeshrug:

I stopped looking to be impressed...

just started to enjoy what is...
Yep

I'm 32 and there are a few rappers that I feel are good like Kendrick, J. Cole but out of the last 10 years the ONLY rapper that had me like :ohhh::wow::blessed::feedme::whew:

Was Lupe Fiasco. Hearing him had me nostalgic. He is the most Lyrical, multi syllable, multi flows, potentially talented and even Jay-Z said he was a "GENIUS". He was the first since Jay and Nas that had me hitting that rewind button and catching the slick, double and triple entundres. I don't think there is a new dude that comes close. What might have hurt/or some would say saved him was not "Dumbing Down" and going too commercial. Production and Atlantic didn't help as well. He is in my Top 5. (Jay,Nas,Lupe,Ghostface and BIG) Tetsuo and Youth was my favorite album of 2015.
