Nope those days are over. And I doubt their coming back, It's not specific to hip-hop, in every facet of entertainment we have devolved. No more classic music, no more classic movies, no more classic video games, no more classic art, etc. Everything is made to be easily consumed and disposed of. Just listen to the old music if you want lyrics.

Only television is thriving at the moment.

Old heads need to listen to Drake's the Ride, very impressive lyrically.

I'm an old head , and there was loads of Wack shyt in the 90's. The problem is that looking back most only remember the good shyt. I will say this though, there was a higher quantity of quality being released back then.
The dope to Wack ratio was acceptable back then
Now it's flipped. For every dope rapper or song there is way more weak shyt.

I'm feeling Kendrick
I like Cole
I like lupe
I like Joey

For just music that I like , and songs.

Ive been feelin some
A$AP
French
Schoolboy Q
Wiz
I've been getting more in to Action Bronson lately he's cool

I try to be open about the music I listen to.

I'll be honest though, I've tried to get in to the whole young thug/future thing but i guess that ain't for me. I admit that I like some of it but for the most part nah.

But I was never a big Wayne fan like that
I'm nit saying all, I'm saying a majority of cats.

And I think young thug/Future and such dudes are pretty hard to get for people who are not "of this generation" cause they are too far from "traditional rap". Just like Jeru and such cats are pretty hard for people to get who are not from that generation. While a dude like J. Cole (rapping) is traditional as hell and easy to fukk with regardless of generation.

Other than that, the golden era is one of the best eras in music overall. We will probably never see such a classic/total music ratio again. But imo there's a lot of nice shyt, very diverse sounds from all over the nation or world even with Canada and some grime shyt that I'm hearing, specially when you look at the cats who are not the usual suspects. Like Vince Staples dropped an album that was super acclaimed last year, but the coli would rather big up the loser Troy Ave for dissing dead people.

Coming up on 35 in a few years.

After A$AP Rocky's first album, I thought it would be him but nah... dude's new shyt is trash
Action Bronson, when he wants to, has impressed me with some of his mixtapes
Nipsey Hussle has been the only consistent smash I've seen in a while. Dude's incredible
Tyler the Creator before he went full tilt c00n was nice with it; he can go fukk himself now
A$AP Ferg's flow is really good but he's starting to hop on other people's wave, losing himself in that
Vince Staples has been :whew:
Westside Gunn also :whew:
Danny Brown's flow is really entertaining

That's about it for the 'new' artists
