Hi-Fi Rush was an IP sold by Microsoft themselves. Square Enix sold Tomb Raider and other IPs to Embracer. Companies do sell IPs.

No company EVER sells IP unless they are dying.
In both these cases the entire studio that created the IP was sold with the IP or the studio would die.

Not some one game deal where a random dev is given ownership cause they helped develop a legacy IP

Same reason Sony announced wolverine with just a teaser and no team actually working on the game yet.

So it's dropping a like a year after the wolverine game, :jbhmm:

As was pointed out in this thread Insomniac did the same with wolverine.

Meanwhile you got a wolverine cg trailer in 2020 and the game is like 2-3 years out also :mjlol:

But hey that doesn't matter. Perfect dark though...

Development hell....but which one :lupe:

The last we saw Wolverine was at least 3 years ago, and we have yet to see gameplay. It’s clearly in development hell

am hyped for both games but don't do this to yourself here. I think we can trust Insomniac more than we can trust The Initiative + Crystal Dynamic.

The documentation also reveals that up until at least April of this year, The Initiative was actively working on the game's Vertical Slice 1. In game development, this term refers to a playable proof-of-concept that gives a representative idea of the final game's quality and feel. It is mentioned too that this vertical slice belonged to "Season 1."

Yep just like Wolverine :troll:

An episodic first person action adventure game. So they were going the Revelations/Telltale route with this…. WTF who was asking for that smh.

I sitll wonder how was it in a playable state in 2019 when Drew Murray (I think that's his name) was talking about it on twitter to a disaster after he left. I think it's clear there was a major project management issue with too many chefs in the kitchen. From what I recall they acquired a lot of experienced devs, but they didn't have proper leadership to guide them. I fully understand why Microsoft decided to cancel because the game most likely wasn't ready until 2028. There's no way that game was going to be worth 10 years of development.

I also fully understand why they didn't sell the IP to Take Two because why would they? You never know if there is multimedia potential in an IP

If they didn't have gameplay with the fake trailer, they wasn't going anywhere at all with it. Sounds like MS didn't want to full commit to whatever his vison was for the game.
