Dallas Disaster Declaration Planned for Ebola Fight

Dallas County Commissioners will hold a special meeting Thursday at 2 p.m. to declare a disaster over "the potential for widespread or severe damage, injury, loss or threat of life resulting from the Ebola virus."

The declaration could help officials impose new travel restrictions on health care workers who may have cared for the first Dallas Ebola patient, Thomas Eric Duncan.

Everywhere...You never there.
I've heard reports saying that higher ups at Presby were :manny: about her going on the plane when she asked. EDIT: Reports are saying that she wasn't told she was prohibited from flying. :snoop: Either way, she shouldn't have flown.

And :salute: to that nurse at Presby who has come out exposing the woefully inadequate preparedness there. All told, a good number of people across the country are in positions where they don't know what they're doing... never have, never will and don't care to know. There are very, very few actual professionals (in the truest spirit of the word).

Hate to say it, but that whistleblower nurse at Presby will be terminated. She probably shouldn't go back to work there. The environment would be hostile. For her own safety. That nurse said it was the best job she ever had. :to: Oh, and if she gets the disease (and I pray she doesn't), she better not go to Presby. :sadcam:

Guess this is why the schools are closed today.

CMSD says teacher may have had contact with Ebola patient

CLEVELAND - Cleveland Schools say a teacher at Cranwood School may have been in contact with the person now diagnosed with the Ebola virus.

A bulletin was posted on the Cleveland Metro Schools website early Thursday morning.

The notice is informing parents that the teacher who may have had contact with the ebola patient will remain at home until health officials clear the teacher to return to work.

The City Health Department says students, families and staff are NOT at risk.

SOLON: Two schools closed as a precaution

School leaders are taking the following precautions.

  • Cranwood School families and staff were notified about the precautions we are taking.
  • Overnight, the school was thoroughly cleaned with a bleach-based cleaning solution, according to guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control.
  • The teacher suspected of having contact with an affected person is at home and will remain at home until cleared by health officials to return to work.
Cleveland school leaders are stressing that these steps are "strictly precautionary."

:lupe: people here bugging out in New Haven — Officials say that Yale-New Haven Hospital is waiting for test results on a patient who recently traveled to Liberia and was admitted Wednesday night with a fever.

A statement released by the hospital Thursday morning states, "Yale-New Haven Hospital admitted a patient late Wednesday night for evaluation of Ebola-like symptoms. We have not confirmed or ruled-out any diagnosis at this point."

A HazMat team responded to the hospital late Wednesday night and the patient was placed in isolation, which is part of the hospital's standard protocol.
"We don't know what we have," a hospital spokesman said.

Recent cases of Ebola in the United States have increased concern over the potential spread of the disease.

Samples have been sent to the Center for Disease Control, but officials are encouraged by the fact that the patient's fever subsided after being admitted.

The hospital said it is working with city, state and federal health official

Let's play a game

You have Ebola

You fly from West Africa to Spain

From Spain to the U.S.

:sas1:

Criticize him when it's warranted but use your brain in the interim. The solutions aren't that simple.
