Selfish, entitled, stupid. Work as one of the nurses treating an ebola patient, have a fever then go out on a cruise and plane. Just stupid not using common sense. Don't care if she called cdc or the hospital.

Anyone who has taken a simple course in Microbiology or immunology knows the incubation period with ebola, and these were licensed nurses treating an ebola patient.
I don't think the CDC properly told them about the proper precautions when dealing with Ebola however, and if that's the case, they shouldn't have exposed these women to it in the first place.
It isn't amateur hour when dealing with this virus. You don't learn on the job.
The CDC is largely responsible because they relayed the information to these people and told them to simply call "if they think they're experiencing symptoms."
They should have forcibly quarantined these people because humans will do illogical things when afraid.
Most people treat an ebola patient and begin running a fever, they're going to rationalize it away and try to ignore it.
It's just a cold. It's just stress.
They're not going to call the CDC so strangers in hazmat suits and respirators can come pick them up and take them away from their friends & family, and then tell them that they're unsure of they'll ever see them again.
Humans are going to behave like humans, which is why our officials who are SUPPOSED to be the authority over the humans potentially exposed to this are the ones the public should be mostly outraged with.

However, that said - scared, selfish or in denial, it doesnt matter - there has to be consequences for people potentially exposing others, though.

I agree with your post and the bolded especially is what makes me angry at the level of incompetence our government has been showing.

Everywhere...You never there.
Im pretty sure you can rescedule cruises and flights just by calling the companies. and the minute possoible ebola exposure come out your mouth they would probably refund your money and tell you stay away.

These nurses are trained and should be held criminally liable for traveling while knowing she had symptoms after treating an ebola patient. The fact the she called the cdc shows she knew there a risk and still exposed others.

Criminalizing the acts might be a bit of a stretch, but yeah, I believe neither should have gone on those trips. Poor judgment.

Breaking news to me that hits close to home so to speak.
I have a family member that works for a major insurance company.
Two of their employees in a different office, not hers (she didn't specify the state) were on the plane with the nurse who traveled and one recently fell ill.
As a precaution, they're both having to work from home now and are not permitted to come in for 21 days.
The only way she and her coworkers nation wide found out was because they sent out an email to them this morning.

Is it really incompetence or did the govt and the hospital half ass it from the start cause it was a black african who had the disease? Part of me thinks its karma for how they did mr duncan(rip) and his family.

Putting up a travel ban would be a serious move. I don't think there are that many flights going directly from the US to West Africa and vice versa anyway (the inflicted countries at least)

catch Ebola, go on a cruise :troll:
