catch Ebola, go on a cruise :troll:

:mindblown: at how much these folks travel... Maybe I'm in the wrong field... these nurses stay jet setting.

Hypothetical:

If you just treated an infected patient and discovered you had a slightly elevated temperature before you were scheduled to catch a flight en route to an important event, would you have gotten on the plane?

A cruise? A cruise my nikka?!?! :dead: How can they fukk this up so badly and claim that it's not intentional?
People make plans in advanced. Unless you're willing to compensate them, it's pretty much fukk you.

I'm pretty sure the CDC would gladly be willing to compensate a cruise someone had planned instead of possibly exposing thousands of people to a pandemic.

The talking point that has been underlying all of this is what has been mentioned over the past several posts: Personal accountability.

Where does it begin and in a situation such as this?

Should someone essentially throw away a stack (high estimation, cruises come cheap these days. Wouldn't be surprised if that cruise cost $300, tops) to not even risk exposing others?

Should a woman halt her wedding plans when she has an elevated temp., following the treatment of an infected patient?

The answer to both of those questions has to be yes when dealing with the first Ebola case in the United States. There should have been mandatory quarantine for all workers involved with Duncan's care immediately after it was over. These are only a few things that could have been done, but HUGE things nonetheless. Some compensation should have been given also to cover incidents like this.

And let me add on to this-There should have only been CERTAIN people authorized to deal with his care, and they also should never have been able to leave the hospital to spread it in the local area when not working. They could have been giving a room at the hospital to live in until after the quarantine timeframe.

Dallas officials plan new limits on health staffers in Ebola case

Dallas officials alarmed at the spread of Ebola plan to take aggressive steps Thursday to restrict health care staffers exposed to the virus — possibly placing them in shelters — as the hospital where they work apologized for its potentially deadly mistakes.

“We are deeply sorry,” said Dr. Daniel Varga, chief clinical officer for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, which has faced intense scrutiny for its initial handling of an Ebola case that has escalated fears nationwide.
