Right, now lets not get it twisted. Pete Rock was still one of the hottest producers out at that time. It's just the combo between him and CL wasn't ringing off as hard as 2 years prior. But fall of 94, it was all about Ready To Die. Actually, I was bumpin Keith Murray's debut and Red's Dare Iz A Darkside over Main Ingredient at the time.

I'm telling you it was the girl singles. as good as 'I Got a Love' is of a song, cats wasn't looking for some carmel city ass chocolate boy wonder, howard university ass campus rap.

the cream rose to the top though and the album is fantastic.

And the interludes, is wish some them were full track

that is what was always so incredible bout pete rock's interludes... those interludes could've been songs :mjcry:

those interludes were a huge influence on what questlove and dilla would do on albums like common's like water for chocolate and d'angelo's voodoo too

4 songs about women, and all of them were well done.

Times were just changing, and that sound was just too low key and subtle. There wasn't an impact tune on that album.

The feel of the album was really on more lounge vibe

This right here...

The chick songs weren't bad, not at all... shyt, I fukked with "I Got A Love" heavy. It was just that coming off of RTD and Illmatic and 36 Chambers (and that's just speaking for the East Coast shyt at the time), it was way laidback and CL was always a decent but not impactful MC. It's like you can't rock Warning and then spin off into I Got A Love...
