I don't get it. Is Pete Rock being blamed for bad record deals? Are we completely sure that current 360 deals/streaming deals are better than the old ones?

Aren't the same execs getting paid in 2017, the same execs getting paid in the 90s?

Are you REALLY going to tell me Waka Flocka Flame has had any impact on the genre since 2010? His only certifications are from his 2010 releases :ooh: I even thought "Round Of Applause" would've been certified but it wasn't :ld: None of his subsequent releases after Flockaveli impacted the culture and before you could blink the chiraq shyt took off and there was no need for Flocka. He went back on his word and jumped on Love & Hip Hop because he wasn't a commodity anymore. This isn't even worth your time dog. Unfortunately I don't consider that shyt he was doing with son of Benihana as legitimate and most people who grew up with rap probably do not either
I dont fukk with Waka one bit.

He impacted the culture from being down and signed with Gucci Mane...only because Gucci was managed by his moms..

Once Guwop severed ties..Waka's rap status started to "decline"..

Thats neither here nor there...

My point is just because he isnt in the limelight like he once was, doesnt mean he "fell off", it means less banwagoneer type fans of rap just arent checking for him.

Most people who grew up with rap more than likely dont rock with Waka like that either..but the dude somehow is able to still get arena dates and festivals booked..

Waka was buggin in his clip. Thats all I gotta say. He aint the Jay or Nas of NO generation. Even if he goes by the new standards. Also. He need to stop all the “old heads” talk. nikka u like 32 years old fam.
He never dissed anybody for being old, he said the older generation(the one before him) didn't build on anything business wise, the same way they was getting screwed back then, they are now cause when the genre was all the way up nobody made power moves to take the power away from the labels. And he right.
That the old generation didn't look out for us is bullshyt. The ego on young rappers with half a hit be so ridiculous they don't listen to anyone. Waka mom is a artist manager and if a label screwed him over(labels don't screw people over) then he needs to look at his mom
they didn't tho. The so called gate keepers failed and let anything in the genre and it's wide open now, when puff ran wit the term player hater all the old heads stfu and it allowed anything to come in the genre, and we here because of that

yeah pete needs to no say nothing even tho waka out here saying wild stuff like he the jay of this era

i can't think of anything that connects jay to waka :patrice:
he said he won og the jays, nas of this generation meaning he one of the cats that influenced the genre and the artist that came after him.

It astounds me how "newer" nikkas can't seem to understand how golden era cats aren't all over their dikks, as if they're killing shyt. I can kinda get how they wouldn't see how wack they are skill wise they are in comparison, but they all loom like:dwillhuh: when an "old head" refuses to cosign the nonsense they put out. They're luck they're insulated, and they can't get dissed to oblivion like the 90s. These cats would get washed so fast smh...
waka really never even spoke on quality of music tho, and the younger gen actually don't care with the older gen likes at all. They don't even try to care, if they did they would be going so far left, they lowkey probably trolling with some of the shyt they do to make old head even more mad

That's part of the problem the generation before always payed homage I think that's why they called it the golden age

You see snoop with the dramatics

The samples of the 60's and 70's

Guru doing those jazzamatazz albums etc...

In the latest 2000s hip hop had been around 30 years. They couldn't keep sampling the same shyt.

Early hip hop days they were able to sampling from genres that's came before them, the only thing that came before the 2000s rapper is others rappers. So they created they own sound

So being signed to Gucci didnt help out his career?
Yea it did as much as it did

Oj the juice man
Whooo da kid
Frechie
Young scooter

But none of them never made a impact like wake. Gucci don't have this crazy track record of having a bunch of artist signed to him and blowing up

Same with young thug, he was signed to Gucci at one time. Which Gucci went to jail and he did his own thing is when he blew up.
