That Camp Lo and Smoke DZA project have been in heavy rotation since they dropped. That's the kinda sh*t we used to get from Pete when he was mad active. We need more of that.
I think Kanye called him back in for his next album too. People don’t realize that "Runaway" is also a Pete Rock track. Dude's whole fingerprint is inescapable in Hip Hop.

I just had that Smoke DZA and Ross joint on the other day. Pete is still cooking. But a lot of these so-called Hip Hop "fans" aren't even up on what's out there because they spend too much time on here making sh*t up. Dude is one of the GOAT's for a reason.
Pete's been working with all kinds of MC's for years. And he may be annoying, but dude's music is still dope, lol. And this is 35+ years in.

Those songs are a prime example: those beats are not for Nas. Like what type of beats do cats think we be taking bout all these years with ‘Nas picks bad beats’. That’s them. You know it a mile away. He does not sound good over over produced corny type beats. And there’s a LOT of beats like that. That’s where Hitboy differs from Alc, Madlib, No ID etc. Hit boy’s background is different he’s not straight classic hip hop. So the plus to that is his style isn’t redundant he takes chances, he will give you outside the box joints like Abracadabra or a 5 heartbeats sampleBut it also means he’s capable of a lot of misses
The EPMD joint especially the OG version on the Judas and Black Messiah soundtrack was always good to me and no one ever had an issue with it
Everyone gotta different opinion on what they think is a good or bad beat for him so when some people criticize a beat that others like and not just Nas Stans it’s hard to know what’s right

People want Nas to work with fairly New York 90e retro based guys or underground soul guys. I dont even wanna call them boom bap cause thats putting them in a box
Which speaks to wanting that Illmatic experience. But he’s also a queens dude who’s outside and is just as much gonna hear or want something from the commercial or current guys as well as well as that classic sound hes used to (which is why I think he went full on with Hit after the Chauncey Hollis tape dropped when he initally just saw him for a couple of beats)
I wouldn’t say no to anyone yall picked that but at some point over the last 29 years knowing this I don’t see how he’d jump on a stones throw/conductor/ Daringer record for his own projects
He’ll definitely work with the producers you want for theirs or other peoples stuff or a Lost Tapes. We've had Nas rap over Pete Rock, Rza, Madlib, Alchemist, DJ Premier and Beatminerz records in the past 4 years
But knowing how he moves and how he'll look for someone with a more contemporary to the masses palette who can still get that 90s feel, thats who he'll get.
Before he got with Hit the only other person I would say is maybe Harry Fraud/Alchemist but theres the whole chemsitry lock down with someone thing as well.
So I dont know why you guys are setting yourselves for dissapointment when you've got in your head who he should rap with and anything that doesnt sound the same is asking to be let down
